There are TWO reasons Biden would have to deal with ….
First….
US Senator Warren has a Republican Governor in her state of Massachusetts ….Her replacement would be a Republican…The piece below points out that lawmakers in the state could change the replacement rules …But THAT might get messy….
Second….
This IS actually the BIGGEST impediment to her getting the Treasury job…..
Elizabeth Warren being chosen to be the Treasury Sec of the United States would probably crater the Stock market causing billions of dollar’s of loses….
Warren IS an expert on corporate bankruptcies and is itching to move to regulate and weed out corporate abuse in America…She could probably save consumers and taxpayers a good amount of money…
But the America economy will be dropping come the first quarter of 2021 and one would doubt very much if Joe Biden, a cautious middle of the roader, would want to have to deal with the fallout a Warren appointment would drop on his plate , which would be very full with other things….

It’s a reputation Warren herself embraced during the Democratic primary, touting reports that financial industry leaders were concerned about the possibility she could win the Democratic nomination.
The Massachusetts Democrat’s opponents in the business world are also whispering that her nomination to lead the Treasury Department could spook the markets, particularly the bond market, at a perilous moment — just as Biden is going to ask Congress for a multi-trillion dollar stimulus package.
Such warnings have effectively cowed past Democratic presidents. “I used to think that if there was reincarnation, I wanted to come back as the president or the pope or as a .400 baseball hitter. But now I would like to come back as the bond market. You can intimidate everybody,” James Carville said during Bill Clinton’s presidency….

Maybe that job should go to Mitt. Wall Street would be pleased.
Or if people are getting the jobs back they used to hold in 1986 (or first tried getting in 1986 as the case with Biden), maybe James Baker!
It would, however, anger the progressive and old-time liberal base, given Bain Capital’s record in acquiring, consolidating, milking, hollowing out and then discarding old-time firms and their workers — a topic used in what I think was an effective Ted Kennedy re-election campaign ad (by Mandy Greenwald) when Romney challenged him.

¶ On the other had, CG, I think that as the co-parent of MassCare (Romney Care), your hero might make an interesting and intelligent choice for HHS if and when Joe Biden (if elected as President) and trying to add the Public Option to the ACA (if still constitutional). Romney could manage the Department and might be able to win over some moderates or fellow-Republicans.
Reading further, I see (as I had suspected but failed to remember) that David Stockman did write a book on venture capital and LBO’s:

I actually think the only departments that might make sense for Romney would be State or Defense. I do not think that would happen.
All things considered, I would rather him stay in the Senate as a Republican. If he was not already there, perhaps as some sort of Covid 19 “Turnaround” Czar, coordinating the response from various parts of the government.
Romney is a good organizer .
He would actually be an excellent choice for the role you propose for him.
Do we think Romney will grovel for this job like he did with Trump to become Secretary of State?
Maybe Romney could tell us who he voted for, that profile in courage, or maybe he could speak out against Republican voter suppression efforts since his state votes by mail.
I doubt it though. He only flirts with greatness.
Hey Jack. How is your Congressman doing? Do you think he will win. I helped with a last minute money bomb for him, it appears he’s running hard.
I think he is a slight favorite.
The district is drawn to be Republican ; however, Cunningham has been endorsed by the Mayors of all the island communities along the lower coast and those are usually heavy voting Republican areas.
Charleston is voting heavy in the early vote ; however part of it is in Clyburns District.
I’m cautiously optimistic Cunningham will prevail.

On 10/18, I called SC 1 as Tossup (D), and since for the past several cycles I have had the most accurate race by race House results prediction record out of anyone anywhere that I can find, that might be the final word.

Yes , I agree.There is no way Biden will give up a Senate seat for a Cabinet member.
There are hundreds of people in this country who can serve well in Cabinet positions.
The Fed Chair in San Francisco should be the Treasury Secretary, Mary Daly…
