There WAS a plea for attention from Texas Democrats for a Joe Biden list and money….
The money is coming…..
Six Million…..
We’ve been talking about Democrats and Texas for a while….
It’s a long shot…
But?
With President Donald Trump hamstrung by a bout with COVID-19, Joe Biden is eyeing opportunity in Texas and doing something no Democratic nominee has done in decades: making a serious push in the state.
The former vice president hasn’t scheduled a visit so far. But he has quietly reserved $5.8 million for an advertising blitz through the final four weeks, starting Tuesday.
Viewers in Dallas-Fort Worth especially will have trouble avoiding his pitch, which also targets voters in the Houston, San Antonio and Austin markets.
“It’s a hell of a lot more than anybody else ever spent, that’s for sure,” Texas Democratic Party chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said. “This is a very good sign.”
Biden’s ad buy shows up in data collected by Advertising Analytics, which tracks campaign spending. He could still back out, making this a rather elaborate feint, but Texas Democrats believe it’s just the start. And the state party is simultaneously investing several million for ads aimed at Black and Latino voters — a coordinated assault on a state that Republicans long counted on as unassailable.
Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris have yet to put Texas on their itineraries, though Texas activists remain hopeful as polls continue to show Trump mired in a tie with Biden, or barely ahead, in a state he won by 9 points four years ago….
Note…
Texas has 45 Electoral Votes….

Nwte Cohn says that if the polls are exactly as wrong as they were in 2016 Biden would still win over 300 Electoral votes.

I saw that Scott….
Again?
Trump is doing this ALL by himself…..

I still doubt that Biden can win Texas but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be close.
It will be interesting to see if Democrats make inroads in state legislative and local races or pick up a few Congressional seats.

In polls of even deep red states like Alabama Utah and North Dakota Trump is polling 10 points lower than his 2016 percentage.
Im Texas if Trump drops that much he loses the state. Not that I’m predicting it necessarily.

Yes here in S.C. ,which Trump won by sixteen points or so in 2016, his “ good “ polls show only a five or six point lead.Others show it even closer.
Scott P says
The latest Missouri poll I saw showed Trump with a 5 pt lead. He won the state by 18 pts in 2016.
What’s weird is that GOP Sen. Roy Blunt almost lost reelection to Democrat Jason Kander even as Trump was winning handily. Also Eric Greitens , the Repubkucan who has since resigned also barely won the Governor’s race that.
So while Missouri is redder than it used to be as it’s population is not growing much and overall has an older whiter and more rural bent to it, the 2016 Presidential race seems to be a bit of an anomaly.

Greg Abbot wants to limit ballot drop-off boxes to one per county.
Texas has 246 counties and almost all of them cover at least 1,000 square miles each, the same area as the whole state of Rhode Island.
Texans are used to far greater orders of magnitude than southern New Englanders, but that would be like our Governor, Gina Raimondo, decreeing that Rhode Island voters could only drop off their ballots at the state Board of Elections in Cranston. Good luck in Texas if you don’t own a car.

There should be hundreds of “drop off” sites.
We are in a pandemic for godssakes!
The pure fact is ,less there was any doubt, Republicans are now desperately trying to suppress the vote.
And it’s crummy stuff .
Sadly though? Not surprising in the least!

Oh and if I forgot to add?
Abbot?
Is a POS
jamesb says
They ARE desperate….
This is just acknowledgement that they KNOW Trump and other’s are in deep trouble…

What are Beto and the Castro Bros. doing for Biden/Warren right now?
(2) Self-correction: double-checking an old World Almanac I see I was wrong about the land area of Texas counties (only allowed one drop-off box each by Gov. Abbott). There are 254 of them, and only a few dozen are bigger than Rhode Island (1,045 sq. mi.) although some of those in are several times larger [e.g Pecos, 4,764 sq. mi.] — which in R.I. terms could mean crossing over to Mass. or Conn. to drop off your ballot.
