He ‘hopes ‘ they will continue to come down….
Something IS going on because the media has pushed the virus story back a bit ….
But it’s a nail biting time for parents who have to decide if they want to send their kids back to school….
Some states ARE still experiencing spikes…
No matter what?
The numbers of infections are still WAY too high still….
The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday said coronavirus deaths in the U.S. should start declining around parts of the country by next week as the nation’s seven-day average for daily deaths has consistently topped 1,000.
“You and I are going to see the cases continue to drop. And then hopefully this week and next week, you’re going to start seeing the death rate really start to drop again,” Robert Redfield, director of the CDC, said in an interview with the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The daily average of new COVID-19 cases nationwide has been falling for weeks. But Redfield said it takes time for mitigation measures — such as encouraging the use of masks, social distancing and shutting down bars, as was done recently in hotspots like Arizona and Texas — to be reflected in the number of deaths.
“It is important to understand these interventions are going to have a lag, that lag is going to be three to four weeks,” Redfield said. “Hopefully this week and next week you’re going to start seeing the death rate really start to drop.”
The health official said the U.S. is beginning to turn the tide on the outbreak in the south, but there are worrying figures being reported in parts of Middle America.
“We’re starting to see some of the cases now in the red zone areas are falling, but if you look at those states that are in what we call the yellow zone, between 5 percent and 10 percent, they’re not falling, so middle American right now is getting stuck,” he said….

Well it’s according to what one means by the word,”drop.”
Cases are “down” here in S.C.
So are the number of tests.
As Trump has said less tests less cases.

I point out in the post that OVERALL yes things have slowed in most places…
But there are regions, states and counties where there are spikes….
And we have about two months before it gets cold and people HAVE to be inside to go out and eat and do things….

Oh these minor blips are essentially meaningless.
Like I said they had slow test days here for a few days and the number of new cases fell to 700.
They had more tests today and the number of new cases is close to a thousand.
Any idiot can figure out that fewer tests will mean fewer cases.(see Trump)
Get back to me when there is more tests and steady downward numbers of new cases and deaths for like three weeks or so.
Until then? These “reports” mean nothing to me

Louisiana became the fifth state today (after NY, NJ, CT and MA) in which one out of every 1000 people in that state who were alive in January are now dead from Covid-19. Pretty incredible when you consider that no one heard of this disease a year ago.

Indeed….
It has hit the planet hard….
