Joe Biden would be 78 on his inauguration date in January …
A large majority of those in a recent poll want Biden to pick someone to run with him that is NOT like Donald Trump , who had NO political or governing experience…
Trump’s glaring inability to lead America domestically and in foreign affairs is NOT what people want again should Biden have trouble running for, or be in office….
Americans don’t seem to care if the choice IS a woman like Biden said he would pick…
Or a minority like the media reports he’s being pushed to take…
Does this poll free Biden from his pledge to pick a women of color?
Could this poll start the NY Governor Cuomo pick efforts back up?
Voters overwhelmingly want to see Joe Biden choose a vice presidential nominee with governing experience, and they’re far less invested in whether he chooses a woman or a person of color as his running mate, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday.
The survey — conducted just after Bernie Sanders dropped out of the 2020 presidential race, making Biden the Democrats’ presumptive presidential nominee — found that about two-thirds of voters said it was important Biden choose a running mate with legislative and executive experience. While Biden has vowed to select a woman to join him on the ticket, only 29 percent of voters said it was important for Biden to choose a woman, while 22 percent said it was important that he choose a person of color.
Among Democrats, about 8 in 10 said it was important that Biden’s vice-presidential selection have legislative and executive experience. Meanwhile, about half of Democrats said it’s important for Biden’s running mate to be younger than him (77 years old) and for his pick to be a woman.
Fewer Democrats say it’s significant that they be more liberal than Biden (41 percent), a person of color (36 percent) or religious (31 percent).
Biden, himself a two-term vice president, has spoken about how important and personal the choice of a running mate is to him, offering increasingly detailed remarks about the process and his priorities. In recent weeks, Biden has pointed to his advancing age and the importance of building a bench of qualified, experienced and younger people in the Democratic Party who could serve in the future.
Biden said during one Democratic primary debate that he would select a female vice presidential candidate, but he has also publicly outlined criteria including alignment with him on key principles and the ability to shore up his weaknesses as a nominee and potential president….

Update…
The view From from MorningConsult…
Presidential nominees do not always pick from reported short lists, but they can serve as a reliable guide. As Biden considers his options, the poll suggests two competing paths he could take to appeal to different voters: choose a person who is palatable with the general electorate and key constituencies in November, or one who could help him shore up enthusiasm in the Democratic Party and the young party voters who are wary of him.
On one of those paths lies Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who had the highest net favorability (the share with favorable views minus the share of those with unfavorable views) of any candidate with the overall electorate, independents, suburbanites and women. She was the only potential pick whom all voters were more likely to view favorably than unfavorably.
On the other path is Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the most popular candidate among Democratic voters, especially those under the age of 45. But she has a negative net favorability with the overall electorate, as well as independents and suburban voters. Women were roughly divided over her.
Note…
Stacy Abrams appears to be running for the spot., something that usually disqualifies the person..
She does Not have the experience needed…
She should NOT be the pick…

The Michigan Governor maybe off the Biden list ….
I’ll post why a bit later….
Tough times gonna get tougher for governors ….
Trump IS a factor…..
Scott P says
Why would Whitmer be off the list because a bunch of right wing wackos protested her sane policies?
CG says
because james seems to agree with their protests
I’m not making any judgments on the specifics of this, and if she is overreaching or not, but she is very much on the “list” and the more hated she would be on the right, the more likely it would be she gets the nod.
jamesb says
I DO NOT AGREE with their protests…
I have stated here time and again that testing should be in place…
I live in the state with the most numbers…
But I have also pointed out here that Governor’s ARE under pressure to begin to relax restrictions…
I have stated why several times…
The protests are just the most recent of many reasons the Governor’s will have ‘tough’ decisions to make….
My Name Is Jack says
I never thought she should be on his list;however, the fact that a bunch of Republicans are harassing her over their “rights” should be irrelevant.
jamesb says
Biden CANNOT pick her if this becomes much more…
I agree she wasn’t a likely choice..
My Name Is Jack says
Oh this is only the beginning.
Look for Republicans to start more of these “protests.”

Although I haven’t read the underlying story, my New York Times Morning Briefing interviewed a Times reporter who said that Russia is covertly supporting the anti-vax movement — which previously I had attributed to persistent urban folklore stemming from Scientology.
That would be a notably evil form of Biological Warfare against the U.S., but then I suppose we should expect no less from a government that directly terrorises dissident Middle Eastern populations and refugees by the deliberate violation of centuries-old conventions against bombing schools, kindergartens, hospitals, clinics and ambulances.
Anyway, if the Russians use disinformation to attack America’s herd immunity to common diseases like the ’flu, why wouldn’t it be reasonable to suspect that some of this “Open Up America/It’s All a Hoax/Fire Fauci” movement might come not only from the native Idiot Trump-deifying Right but also from Russian (and perhaps Chinese or North Korean) deception and manipulation?

I’d think China would welcome Biden,,.
Putin no,..

FTR, Stacey Abrams was her party’s Leader in the State Senate. So, she had been elected to something and had an important role in her state.
I would think that her previous electoral experience for VP, puts her on par with Obama who was a backbench State Senator of little note, and then who got elected to the U.S. Senate and pretty much started running for President right away.
jamesb says
I just added a MorningConsult piece to this post that might convince me even more that Klobuchar might just be the surprise Biden VP pick over Harris and Warren…
jamesb says
My bad…
She was a State Senator in Georgia for 10 years…
Obama was a US Senator for two years BEFORE starting his run and had a 3rd yearn when he got promoted…
Bill Clinton was a Governor….
Bush II was a Governor…
Trump was a Real Estate salesman and entertainer
I stand by the intent of my statement ….
She does NOT have enough experience to be Joe Biden’s VP choice…
In am in agreement with US Rep. Clyburn (D-SC) on this point
CG says
I don’t think Abrams is experienced enough and I don’t think Obama was experienced enough. Their levels of experience are similar though. I suppose some give men extra credit they probably should not over a woman. He happened to be in a far more electable state for a left-wing Democrat than her too though.
And of course perhaps Lincoln was not all that qualified either when he became President. Sometimes the moment produces the person.
I don’t think Biden will pick Abrams. He has hinted he would name her to the Supreme Court.
jamesb says
Being a US Senator vs a State legislator?
Huh?
And dealing with Trump????
Is this another one of ur efforts to politically kneecap the Democrats CG?
CG says
What did he do or accomplish as a US Senator? He was a celebrity from before he got elected. Her state legislative experience seems to be far more substantial than his.
I don’t understand your other point.
My Name Is Jack says
Im opposed to picking Abrams and I doubt she is being seriously considered.
However, we are now in the Age of Trump and based on his appointments and him himself.
It’s obvious that previous experience is no longer a real factor in anything.
So,maybe it will be Abrams!

The Atlantic: “Biden’s campaign confirmed that he called Abrams, but didn’t say more. According to several people familiar with the campaign’s running-mate selection process, Abrams is not currently a likely choice.”

THIS is NOT the way to get a job as Vice President….
Stacey Abrams “has been privately calling Democratic powerbrokers, asking them to tell Biden campaign officials that she should be vice president,” Politico reports.
