The US could have done quite well with this because we have a lot of natural advantages—empowered and largely competent states/localities, good hospitals, innovative private sector, etc—but because of Trump, we squandered those & wound up in middle of the pack.
Yeah in light of Silver’s comments it’s kind of ironic that Republicans love to talk about “American exceptionslism”–that they brlieve in it and Democrats do not. Well here Trump and the Republicans squandered a great chance to have the USA lead the world.

A new OH Predictive Insights poll in Arizona shows Mark Kelly (D) leading Sen. Martha McSally (R) in the U.S. Senate race, 51% to 42%…

Apparently that same poll shows Biden leading by 13 points in Maricopa County–which contains almost two thirds of the state’s population and includes Phoenix and almost all of it’s suburbs and exurbs.

4,700 new cases reported yesterday in New York state is the lowest number of new cases there since March 20. Not a ton of testing yesterday but the share of positive tests has also fallen considerably, to 29% from a peak of 50%. (In in NYC, to 30% from a peak of 59%.)
