The Governor there is gonna be the subject of a harsh media throw down….
And support from Trump, one would guess…
Other state’s ARE moving to to relaxing some virus restrictions also…
Trump’s wishes ARE about to come true ….If only in a few states in the near future…
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (R) said he will soon begin a “phased approach” to reopening the state after coronavirus-related lockdowns, although he said the state will need to increase its daily testing capacity before beginning that process.
“Testing is going to be a big factor when you really ‘reopen’ the state … where people start feeling they’re safe again to go out and come back to some sort of normal life,” Parson told NPR’s “All Things Considered” Wednesday.
Parson told NPR that the state is currently testing about 3,000 people a day, while he estimated officials need to be conducting between 40,000 and 50,000 daily tests.
In the meantime, he said, the state will look at broader data trends and variations in the virus’ impact on urban and rural parts of the state.
“I think you could see that in the next several weeks, we’ll have a phased approach,” he said. “We’ll probably open the state up for economics, probably different areas of the state at different times.”
Missouri’s stay-at-home order is set to expire on April 24, though some individual municipalities in the state have issued longer stay-at-home orders, NPR reported…
…
…state residents have increasingly pushed for a reopening of their states’ economies sooner rather than later to offset the shutdown’s economic toll, despite warnings from public health officials. Demonstrators gathered at the Ohio and Michigan state capitols Wednesday, while Pennsylvania Republicans passed a bill that could open some businesses early….
The Pennsylvania state senate on Wednesday sent a bill that would partially lift the lockdown on most of the state’s businesses to Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) desk.
The measure, Senate Bill 613, would require the governor’s office to align with federal guidelines in determining which businesses will be allowed to reopen during the pandemic, allowing all those that can safely operate with mitigation strategies under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency guidelines.
The measure passed the senate 29-21 Wednesday after passing the state House 107-95 Tuesday.
The Republican senate also approved a bill that would allow county governments to implement their own plans to reopen independent of the state’s plan….

The St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas started shelter in place while accidental governor Parson was still shuffling his heels. So this Trumo sycophant can fix what he wants. But those of us where most of the state population lives will keep on following our local leaders.

Branson will be the entertainment mecca of the world.
Scott P says
The average age at Branson venues is around 76.
It could be the new “hotspot” in more ways than one.

All these people talking about “ reopening.”
They all talk about “ testing.” What they don’t talk about is that the ability to do this testing presently does not exist..
This is like saying, “ we are going to play baseball today” when you have no balls to play with.
Even Trumps people ,not him of course, concede this .
jamesb says
You ARE spot on Jack with the lack of testing ability for most states….
NYC is working on a anti-body finger pricked test…
And 2 weeks ago Abbott Co. talked about a 5 min test that could ship thousands then…
Haven’t heard a thing since..
And i understand Trump’s promises on Fed ordered medical equipment has been empty…
This IS about the states …
And it’s good some have banned together
Cause Trump is useless except for putting his fucking name on the checks…
Democratic Socialist Dave says
But, Jack, the President himself (no less) reassured the Nation that there was more than adequate testing (and PPE) available. Who are we to doubt the Perfect Genius ?
My Name Is Jack says
A bald faced Lie.
But expect no pushback from Republicans ,Thry know he Lies .The like his Lies.
He’s gettin that damn “librul media.”
Scott P says
Jack did you see CG’s comment yesterday that our $1200 stimulus checks were an example of “conservative” principles?
I thought you might get a kick out of that.
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah I got a kick out of of that and other stuff.
After you posted that picture of those hate contorted faces of Republicans in Ohio, he immediately came up with the weird contention that those people had been Sherrod Brown supporters a few years back.
I laughed at that silly assertion and merely told him that they were “the face of the Republican Party.”
Scott P says
I didn’t see his grasping at straws about Sherrod Brown. What a crock! Those folks are pure right wing Republican followers of Brother Rush.
A bunch were waving Confederate flags. Because nothing says this temporary shelter in place order is an un-American and unconstitutional threat to your freedom than waving the flag of a traitorous nation built on slavery!
My Name Is Jack says
He can’t be too critical of those types.
He knows that they are the “base” of the Republican Party, to which he shortly officially return.
My Name Is Jack says
Anyone waving a Confederate flag richly deserves the epithet…
White Trash
Scott P says
Agreed! And Confederate flags are found in spades among Trump Republicans.
Sherrod Brown Democrats? Not a chance.
CG says
Was there a Confederate flag in the Ohio picture? Let’s not get the outrages mixed up.
DeWine was never the favorite of these types and of course Trump changed the Republican Party by winning a lot of populist voters who also like Sherrod Brown.
I have been on record on these blogs in opposing the Confederate Flag since 2004. That same year, Howard Dean, as a Presidential candidate, was saying he wanted Democrats to be the party of guys in pickup trucks with Confederate flag stickers.
Scott P says
2004 was a different time. I bet Howard Dean would say that diminishing group of idiots is best written off today.
Scott P says
I don’t know about the Ohio protests other than the linked story. But in Michigan the Trump Republicans protesting Gov. Whitmer were waving Confederate flags and chanting “lock her up”–a favorite from the last RNC.
Sure, a lot of them were Democratic voters. Sure
jamesb says
We’d all agree that some of the protests ARE politics of the November elections…
Scott P says
As to DeWine himself? I have praised his handling of the crisis. He’s among the most proactive Republican governors on this issue and more so than a couple of Democratic ones.
That Trump has said some of the same things DeWine has is lost on these rabid supporters, as Jack notes.
It will be quite a moment of truth for the Governor. Does he bend to these idiots or stick to his guns. That is the question.
My Name Is Jack says
Now it’s just not the MAGA hat wearing Republicans who are howling….
Republican lawmakers are starting to show their true colors.
First it was some goofball from Indiana ,now a US Senator
Sen John Kennedy of Louisiana wants everything reopened and readily concedes that such will mean the virus spreads quicker.
He just doesn’t care.
The Republicans have been feigning “concern” about this virus for the past month .Now the mask is coming off.
They Don’t Care how many people get sick.
They Dont Care how many people Die.
But they do care about “innocent human life.
What a disgusting bunch of frauds and liars!
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I wonder what Sen, Kennedy’s partner, Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La) thinks.
According to Wikipedia:
William Morgan Cassidy was born in Highland Park, Illinois, one of four sons of Elizabeth and James F. Cassidy, and is of Irish and Welsh descent.[2] He grew up in Baton Rouge and received a B.S. (1979) from Louisiana State University and an M.D. from LSU School of Medicine (1983).[3] Cassidy specialized in the treatment of diseases of the liver at the Earl K. Long Medical Center (LSUMC).[4] His wife, Laura (née Layden), is also a physician; they met during their respective residencies in Los Angeles and married on September 29, 1989.[5] In the early 1990s, both worked at the Earl K. Long Medical Center, where Laura was the hospital’s head of surgery. Cassidy worked as a gastroenterologist at the facility until it closed in 2013.[6] The couple has three children.[7] They are members of The Chapel on the Campus, a nondenominational Christian Church that meets on LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge.[8]
In 1998, Cassidy helped found the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide uninsured residents of the greater Baton Rouge area with access to free health care. The Clinic provides low-income families with free dental, medical, mental health and vision care through a “virtual” approach that partners needy patients with doctors who provide care free of charge.[9]
Cassidy has also been involved in setting up the nonprofit Health Centers in Schools, which vaccinates children in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System against Hepatitis B and flu.[10][11]
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Cassidy led a group of health care volunteers to convert an abandoned K-Mart building into an emergency health care facility, providing basic health care to victims of the hurricane.[12]

Gov. Parson just announced he is extending Missouri’s stay at home from April 24 through May 3 at least.
Earlier today both the city of St. Louis and St. Louis County–home to 1.3 million of the state’s 6 million residents–announced shelter at home would be extended to mid-May. I imagine Kansas City will similarly extend to mid next month if they have not done so already.
