The figures for NY deaths where 100+ less on Friday…
Hospital and ICU numbers also continue to drop as hospital’s seem to be moving to the point that they aren’t ‘maxed’ out…
But reports around the country point to increases in virus cases as some governor’s move to relax virus restrictions….
Number are bound to bounce up and down coming out of the weekend as has happened every weekend…
But New York and New York City ARE continuing to see less reported virus cases and deaths…
Things just could come to New York NOT wanting people come to it to keep their numbers low?
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said during a press briefing on Saturday that COVID-19 hospitalizations are “starting to descend” while also calling for more testing throughout the state.
The governor cited models depicting a decline in hospitalizations and ICU admissions related to the illness for the past three days, adding that medical facilities are no longer reporting that they are at “max capacity.”
Cuomo also highlighted that the rates of intubation – the process of placing COVID-19 patients on breathing ventilators – are down, too.
“The probability is about 80 percent that you won’t come off a ventilator after you [are] put one on,” Cuomo said, calling the descending rates “good news.”
He added that the state is still reporting 2,000 new COVID-19 hospitalizations daily, saying the situation is “sobering” as 540 more New Yorkers lost their lives to the virus on Friday….
Note…
New York’s pre-virus death numbers where in the 150 to 200 range per day….

Note though that some of the positive news of late has been driven by NY/NJ/CT, which does seem to have turned some kind of corner. It’s possible we could get a bimodal peak if NY/NJ/CT decline while the numbers elsewhere worsen.

Need more days/data. BUT, I am NOT optimistic that we have plateaued as country. Clearly NYS/NJ/MA dominate overall picture. When you strip them out (& my interposed state of CT), & note increasing domination of GA, IL, TX, OH, PA etc, a different pattern MAY be emerging.

I think that NY /NJ peaked several weeks ago…..
The problem now is as they come down in cases?
Other states that did NOT do restrictions as soon will increase infections…
The Red states’s maybe making YUGE mistake by not waiting at least two weeks longer for more stringent restrictions …
