He said this in Davos Switzerland while hanging the Rich and Famous…
Maybe he’s still jet lagged?
If Donald Trump and the Republicans repeat THIS enough?
He WILL assuring himself one term and the Republicans losing the US Senate in addition to US House…
Democrats should be so lucky to have to run on Americans suffering a tax INCREASE at the end 2017 and the naked grab at their social safety net benefits that they pay for…
Is Donald Trump handing Democrats the Novembers election?
Let’s see how fast this gets ‘clarified’….
The president made the comments on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Despite promises to reduce the federal budget deficit, it has ballooned under Mr. Trump’s watch as a result of sweeping tax cuts and additional government spending.
Asked in an interview with CNBC if cuts to entitlements would ever be on his plate, Mr. Trump answered yes.
“At some point they will be,” Mr. Trump said, before pointing to United States economic growth. “At the right time, we will take a look at that.”
Mr. Trump suggested that curbing spending on Medicare, the government health care program for the elderly, was a possibility.
“We’re going to look,” he said.
…
Mr. Trump’s willingness to consider such cuts marks a shift from four years ago, when he stood out in a field of deficit-minded Republicans in the 2016 primary race with a promise to shield entitlements from cuts….
…
Republicans have largely avoided talking about rolling back welfare programs since Mr. Trump became president, assuming that doing so would be a non-starter. Following the $1.5 trillion tax cut that Republicans passed in 2017, some suggested that they would quickly turn to reduce the cost of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Those ideas gained little traction and federal spending has continued to grow….
…
Other Trump administration officials have been more careful in discussing the need to cut spending on entitlement programs. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin demurred earlier this month when pressed on CNBC about how to scale back spending on entitlements…

Biden and Sanders are tripping over themselves assuring voters they would NOT cut Social Security benefits…
Former Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday he would protect Social Security benefits if elected president, as he beats back a stream of criticism from 2020 primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“No. No. No. No,” Biden told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when asked if he would cut Social Security if he wins the White House. “And we weren’t talking about cutting them either then.”
With less than two weeks before the Iowa caucuses, the first-in-the-nation voting contest, polling suggests Biden and Sanders have the best chances to win the Democratic presidential nomination in a 12-person field. In recent weeks, Sanders has denounced Biden’s record more often — first over the former vice president’s 2002 Senate vote to authorize military force in Iraq, then for past comments saying he would consider reforms to Social Security.
Sanders’ campaign released a video ad Tuesday night featuring Biden’s 1995 comments suggesting a willingness to put entitlement programs on the chopping block. In the clip, Biden says that, “When I argued if we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security, as well. I meant Medicare and Medicaid.”
It then cuts to a Sanders campaign rally, where the Vermont independent says, “We are not going to cut Social Security. We are going to expand benefits.”

So does Biden still support his earlier position to eliminate the inflationary adjustment to social security each year?
It seems to me that now that Trump is looking at cutting social security, the Democrats (all things being equal) would do well to nominate someone who is adamant that social security needs to be fully protected from cuts. And with pension plans going away, we need to begin talk about expanding social security benefits.

I DID say that Sanders AND Biden have pledged to save entitlements ….
Sanders is mad because Biden brought up Sanders supported the gun people….
Zreebs says
Well Republicans say they want to save it too.
Biden needs to explain how his position on social security has evolved. In an economy with inflation, there is little difference between a cut and a freeze.
