‘
Told ya so’…..
All this farming at the mouth by media about billionaire Mike Bloomberg aren’t gonna pave over the FACT that Money Mike was the ‘Big Apple ‘ Republican mayor…
That Mike rolled with the same guys that screwed over Barack Obama and are throwing at Democrats RIGHT NOW….
Something stinks….
And it will be coming from Money Mikes direction….
The guy isn’t gonna be the Democratic Presidential nominee ….
Bet on it….
Michael Bloomberg’s debut 2020 campaign ad touts that he “took charge” of New York City in the wake of 9-11.
What Bloomberg doesn’t mention: He leaned heavily on an endorsement from Rudy Giuliani, the then-New York City mayor who is now President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, to win that post. Bloomberg trumpeted his support in TV advertising and direct mail, chastising his Democratic opponent for being “no friend of Rudy Giuliani.”
Giuliani is just one of many skeletons in Bloomberg’s partisan closet. As he pursues the Democratic nomination, he’ll have to explain away the millions he’s spent putting Republicans into office, including contributions backing more than a dozen current and former Republican members of Congress.
The billionaire businessman, who has switched parties several times throughout his political career, endorsed George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign, contributed to John McCain and even held a fundraiser for a House GOP member as recently as last year.
And that’s not all. Beneficiaries of his largess include former Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), a vigorous Trump defender, and Senate Appropriations Chairman Richard Shelby, who once chaired the Senate Banking Committee.
Then there’s former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) — Bloomberg endorsed and held a fundraiser for Brown against Elizabeth Warren in 2012.
“As a Democratic candidate for president, he makes an excellent Republican donor,” quipped Pennsylvania Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who has not yet endorsed anyone in the primary.
Though Bloomberg has also spent millions to support Democrats in recent years, some Democratic elected officials and party operatives remain bitter that he worked to defeat them up and down the ballot in the past….

So you have stated before that Guliani wouldn’t have gotten re-elected, but now you quote an article that states that Bloomberg wouldn’t have won if it were not for Guliani. Not sure what you really believe. My guess is that you will believe and promote whatever is needed to smear Democratic candidates whose name is not Joe Biden. But I agree with you that even hate speech is allowed in the US and you can legally write whatever you want.
Rudy Guliani is not the man today that he was 15 years ago. The argument that Bloomberg has ties to Guliani is like criticizing John McCain for his friendship with Lindsey Graham – because Graham has become the biggest hypocrite in the country after Trump. That would make no sense either.
It is hypocritical for you to spew hatred towards Sanders and Warren and then complain that Bloomberg has endorsed Republicans such as Brown over Warren. Hell, you won’t even commit to supporting Warren over Trump! So James, be consistent, or look like a hypocritical and foolish idiot.
This article may explain why it will be difficult for Bloomberg to win the nomination, but it will not be difficult to make a counter argument that Bloomberg can win the general election.
Democracy itself is at risk in this election. We HAVE to win it. Because I support Bloomberg today doesn’t mean I have to support him in 4 years. But I am convinced he is the Democrats and Democracy’s best hope today.
jamesb says
I object to ur using the word ‘hate’ for me against other Democrats…
I have never done so…
Often I have given positive and negative views….
Oh, Bernie Sanders is NOT a Democrat…
Zreebs says
I’m not sure what word you would prefer? You lie and distort continuously. Your “positive” views are always framed as a part of a larger criticism. You use Republican talking points to promote your hatred. You just don’t like to be called out.
jamesb says
He, he, he….
I have my views ….
Everyone else has their’s…
It’s fine whatever u feel….
No problem…
I’m enjoying the ride…
I hope you are also….
Zreebs says
you are willing to criticize a politician using right wing talking points who consistently votes with the Democrats. Fine. But I know of no other Democrat besides you who continuously criticizes all of Joe Biden’s primary opponents. who is closer to being a real Democrat? Not you.
My Name Is Jack says
James is always more interested in hammering fellow Demcrats ,while constantly (and unsuccessfully) attempting to “prove” that there is “growing” opposition to Trump among Republicans.
The truth is Trumps “approval “ rating among Republicans is essentially where it’s been since his inauguration.
There is No evidence whatsoever that Republicans are “turning” on Trump.None!
jamesb says
I have conceded that Trump’s approval among his party members stays around 88 – 92%….
jamesb says
Actually?
I HAVE knocked Obama, Hillary and Biden….
Zreebs says
No one expects you or is asking you to “knock” other Biden or Dems.
I am aware that you have said that “Biden makes gaffes”, which is quite different than the pure hatred that comes out when you talk other Democratic candidates.
If you want to continue to use Republican talking points as you like to do, then go ahead, but then don’t complain that someone who consistently votes with the Democrats on just about everything is not a Democrat. More likely, the person who uses Republican talking points is the real “not a Democrat”.
Zreebs says
Bloomberg came in 5th place (tied with Harris and Klobuchar) in the latest Quinnipiac poll – an incredible achievement given his time in the race. I saw one of his commercials yesterday – it was very effective. His numbers will be even higher next week.
All of the top 4 Democratic candidates are good people, in my opinion, but all have serious electability issues.
My Name Is Jack says
I am not “for” Bernie Sanders.
Having said that ,if he wins the Democratic nomination ,then hollering about him not “being”a Democrat ?Is going to be a gross irrelevancy.
What makes this especially humorous coming from James is that when he first appeared on the old site he identified himself as an “independent “ who “leaned” Democratic? In other words , very similar to Bernie!
jamesb says
I BELONG to the Democratic Party….
Sanders doesn’t Jack…
Nice try…
You and Z keep at this…
I need the laughs….
My Name Is Jack says
As usual, you don’t deny the accuracy of my statement concerning your political beliefs in the past.
Instead you simply engage in mindless repetition.
As for laughs?I suggest you digest a compilation of your posts over the years.the hilarity of such an exercise should provide you with hours of entertainment.
jamesb says
I have always said to you…
Informed information sometime changes situations….
Thanks again for my smiles
Zreebs says
Sanders does belong to the Democratic Party. He couldn’t run as a Democrat if he didn’t. Whether he continues to belong to the Democratic Party if he loses the Democratic nomination is a different question.
jamesb says
Bernie Sanders uses the Democratic Socialist tag….
He hangs with Democrats and votes accordingly
BUT?
He IS an Independent….
He is NOT A DEMOCRAT…
Democratic Socialist Dave says
It’s a matter of semantics.
(1) Almost all serious democratic socialists (like my comrades in DSA) have worked inside the Democratic Party, rather than run their own Socialist candidates, since the 1950’s.
(2) Living in New York state, James should know about parties working in parallel. Running as a candidate of the Conservative Party of the State of New York doesn’t mean you can’t also be a Republican; running for the Working Families Party doesn’t mean you’re not a Democrat.
In the case of Vermont, the Democrats, independents and Progressives have an understanding that Rep. Peter Welch (D) will not be opposed by the other parties, while Sen. Sanders (ind.) will not be challenged by the Democrats or Progressives. You could as easily say that Bernie Sanders is not a Progressive as that he is not a Democrat.
jamesb says
We have a whole lot of political parties on the ballots here, yea….
Accordingly candidates fish for as many lines as they can get….
Like in. parliamentary system?
U get as many across ballot votes u can…
But technically?
They ARE NOT Democrats or Republicans and their agenda’s ARE DIFFERENT….
My Name Is Jack says
We can title this bit of irrelevancy?
“Desperately Trying To Make a Point, When There Is No Point To Be Made”
Zreebs says
Dave, you are more polite than me. This is basic high school social studies material.
Maybe we can all agree on the following; “James calls himself a Democrat, but he actively works to damage the prospects of Democratic candidates other than Joe Biden”.
I didn’t use the h… word!
James and I can disagree with whether Bernie Sanders or him more closely aligns with the Democratic Party.
Zreebs says
And despite what Keith has said, Sanders has been a significant fundraiser for the Democratic Party.
Keith says
Please provide examples Zreebs?
In 2016 both Sanders and Hillary pledged to raise money for the DNC during the nomination contest, only Hillary kept her word.
So give us examples where Bernie raised money for the Democratic Party.
I will send him a thank you note.
jamesb says
Nor did he share his donor list with Democrats…..
Zreebs says
Nor should he. Many people including me don’t like to receive requests for donations from any cause other than to what I donated in the past.
Zreebs says
First, I don’t want to rediscuss what happened in 2016 other than to say that I believe Sanders had good reason to feel he was treated unfairly by the party which was secretly helping Hillary. You and I can disagree with this.

Zreebs says
Like you will really thank Sanders!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2016/02/05/politics/sanders-democratic-fundraisers/index.html
Keith says
I will do better than that, I will vote for him if he’s the nominee. Like I said, this is a national emergency. Step one, vote out Trump, step two, vote out all the Republicans,
Keith says
And this “politico” story is very specific, and it is exclusively about his DSC activity.
He gives to the organization that supports Bernie at election time, he pays his dues to Chuck Schumer.
That’s not picking up the phone and raising money for a candidate or soliciting his own supporters to contribute.
He completely reneged on his pledge to raise money in 2016, and he signed a pledge to do so.
Big difference.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
If you read Donna Brazille’s account of the campaign, the DNC had reached a joint fund-raising agreement with the H.R. Clinton campaign that gave control over disbursing the proceeds to the Clinton campaign.
When the Democrats could have flipped as many as seven Senate seats and thus control of the U.S. Senate, they only won two (Illinois and New Hampshire) and failed to carry four within the crumbled Blue Wall: Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio & Pennsylvania, plus a long shot at replacing Roy Blunt in Missouri. At least part of the reason was that the money which the DNC could have and should have spent on down-ballot races had been pre-empted by the Clinton campaign (which just as in 2008, had overspent too fast). There’s no good reason, for example, that Ron Johnson should have remained Senator from Wisconsin or Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania.
The money from Sanders supporters [who had just been fighting the DNC before the convention] would just have drained into Hillary’s bottomless pit.
Another mistake was confining Bernie Sanders’ pro-Clinton campaigning to college campuses and other safely-blue audiences. He would have been able to help more talking to working-class and lower-middle-class voters in the Blue Wall, many of whom had voted for Bernie in the primaries, but voted for Trump in the general.
¶ On the other hand, Keith makes a valid point about Sanders and Madeleine Kunin.
A similarly unhelpful liberal independent helped to give Paul LePage the governorship of Maine in two successive elections.
Keith says
Since Donna was on of the people in charge of deciding where the money went I think her book is a rather weak CYA attempt.
Bottom line, Bernie agreed to raise money for the Party. He didn’t.
jamesb says
Thank You Keith….
Enough of the revisionist history on Sanders and Bloomberg…
Keith says
But he did challenge a Democrat as a Socialist when he ran against Madeline Kunin for Governor. His comment at the time, “ there is no difference between a Democrat and the Republicans.”
He almost cost Madeline the election when he refused to drop out even though he finished a distant third.
Zreebs says
I don’t know anything about that race. I voted for a Republicfor governor in the 1980s
Obviously, I would expect Sanders to support the Democratic presidential nominee in 2020.
Keith says
Look it up then Zreebs.
I voted for a Republican for Governor too, so what?
The point, it was a three way contest for Vermont Governor and Bernie was polling in the single digits.
When he could have assured the Democrat’s victory he refused to drop out and she barely one.
She ended up being a good Governor and he ended up being Bernie.
He really is transparently about himself, that’s why so few of his colleagues have endorsed him.
Keith says
James, if you notice, I was being critical of Bloomberg. In fact, since he successfully ran his own company and the largest City in America, I think he would be a good President to start repairing the damage the Republicans are doing.
Keith says
Correction: I was not being critical of Bloomberg. I accept him warts and all.
jamesb says
I hear you Keith…..
Yes….
He IS a better businessman….
I don’t live in New York City
But from where i was during his tenure in office he had a fair to good rating…
Again …Me?
He is NOT who i would want as President…
And i doubt he will make the cut …
Scott P says
My biggest problem with Bloomberg isn’t that he used to be a Republican. I once was too. So what?
I’m not comfortable as a Democrat nominating a candidate who hasn’t gone through the debates. Biden, Warren, Sanders, Buttigieg and all the others have had their high and low points in these debates. Bloomberg has not. I want to see how he’d handle himself on the stage with Trump.
His ads telling me he would be the most formidable opponent to him is not enough.
jamesb says
Scott?
Democratic Party members are ALREADY upset about Bloomberg running with the same Republican’s that they are CURRENTLY having issues with….
It’s gonna interesting for Bloomberg explaining away ALL the op-reseach stuff that would be dropped in the media from his 12 years as a Republican…
Good for you and Z….
Lets see if how Bloomberg , a rich Democrat, that was a Republican mayor plays with Democratic voters….
Zreebs says
Scott, There will be many more debates before the nomination is sealed. If Bloomberg becomes a serious candidates, he will appear in many debates.
Keith says
Many more debates, but under the rules Bloomberg cannot participate. He doesn’t have a donor base and won’t meet that magic number.
He doesn’t care, he has the money to get his message out.
I think Bloomberg has every right to run and I am glad he’s running. But they won’t let him debate.
Full disclosure, if Bloomberg, Sanders, Warren, or any other of the current crop of candidates gets the nomination I will be there to help. (Except Tulsi of course, she’s a Russian asset.
That means my vote, my time, and our full financial support. We will max out to the Democratic nominee.
Doesn’t mean I don’t have preferred candidates. But, this is a national emergency and it doesn’t matter if a candidate “seems mean” or they’re “voice is annoying” or they’re “uninspiring.” I will be out there working.
jamesb says
Lotta long shots out there for Democrats….
Keith says
I certainly don’t classify Bloomberg as a long shot James, not at this point.
jamesb says
I do….
Zreebs says
it is not clear at this point whether Bloomberg will participate in the debates. If he works his way into the top tier, there will be some pressure for Perez to change the rules so that Bloomberg can partucpate. Bloomberg doesn’t seem to care – one way or the other.
Keith says
He cannot participate because of the rules Zreebs. He won’t take contributions and a candidate has to have 200,000 individual contributors. He will have zero, he cannot participate in party sponsored debates.
But Bloomberg does put his money where his mouth as far as contributions go. He spent over $100 million to flip the House. Both Bloomberg and Steyer gave millions.
It would be an interesting exercise to see how much the other Democratic candidates gave.
Scott P says
Just to be clear I will enthusiastically support Bloomberg if he is our nominee.
