The hard lefties are not sold on Elizabeth Warren, a fellow woman Democratic lawmaker….
Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president at a rally in Detroit on Sunday night. She joins Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Minnesota Rep. Ihan Omar in backing the Vermont independent.
With Tlaib’s decision, which CNN first reported earlier this month, Sanders now has the support of the first two Muslim women to serve in the US House of Representatives. Omar is scheduled to host Sanders in Minnesota next week.
“We deserve someone who writes the damn bills,” Tlaib said at a rally with Sanders at Cass Technical High School. “We deserve Bernie Sanders.”
The campaign posted a video featuring Tlaib shortly after she spoke in Detroit.
“I am endorsing Amo Bernie Sanders because he’s not gonna sell us out,” Tlaib says in the pre-recorded clip, noting her nickname for the senator. “He understands that it’s not just about policies and about words, but it’s going to be also about completely transforming the structures in place.”
When Sanders took the stage, he was quick to compliment his newest endorser.
“Congresswoman Tlaib has been a leader,” Sanders told the crowd in Detroit. “Rashida has been a leader in the fight for decent jobs, a leader in the fight for affordable housing, a leader in the fight for a clean border and she has shown that she is prepared to take on corporate greed and corruption and stand with the working class of this country.”
“I will look to her for her leadership in Congress under a Sanders’ administration,” Sanders added….

You people *have* to look up Bill Maher’s closing commentary from “Real Time” last Friday, 10/25
CG says
Here it is.
https://scrapsfromtheloft.com/2019/10/27/real-time-with-bill-maher-new-rule-nowhere-else-to-go/
Once again, I find him saying things I have been saying for a while. Does that make him a right-winger?
Scott P says
Maher’s point is that the Democratic nominee is the only one who can defeat Trump so all who oppose him need to support whoever that is.
I’ve been saying that awhile.
Glad to see you coming around CG.
jamesb says
THAT actually has been the dynamic in the debates….
Direct attacks of Joe Biden in debates have resulted in polling numbers drops for other Democrats…..
CG says
No, he’s making the point that if Democrats act crazy, people aren’t going to vote for them. They will vote for Trump as an alternative.
Those are the people you need to worry about and focus on, not me, since I am not voting for Trump under any circumstance.
Scott P says
Yes that’s part of his point. But the other is that we live in a two party system. It’s plain or peanut, creme or suppository.
Gotta make a choice. Unless you aren’t really playing the game.
CG says
He’s talking to the people who are already left enough to realize that they should think they have “no place else to go.”
I am not left and unlike the “binary” Trump people he references, I choose to go somewhere else.
Worry about the people that might vote for Trump. That’s not me. You are wasting time/resources discussing with me. If you can get them to vote Democrat, more power to you, but you have to first and foremost worry about people who might vote for Trump because Democrats are acting “crazy.”
CG says
As I have said, if the Democrats wanted my vote as a center-right person, against Trump, they could get it, but they would have to hold down the “crazy” a good deal more than they are willing to.
But in theory, they should be able to keep it down enough to get enough people to win without me.
Scott P says
I’m trying to gst everyone I know to vpte Democrat as it is the only option for removibg Trump from the White House.
CG says
But you won’t be able to get everyone you know to vote Democrat. You still have an effect by trying to get people to not vote for Trump. Be strategic.
I will be working on getting my father to not vote for Trump.
In the meantime, let your Republican U.S. Senators know (when the time is right) that you support them voting to remove him from office.
My Name Is Jack says
Haha!
I doubt if they will care much what some Democrats think.
Of course you can’t help either.
Since ,except for three or four, most Republican Senators are nothing but babbling sycophants for Trump, they presumably believe you to be “human scum.”
Scott P says
Sure. I’ll email them and share what what I hear back from them.
jamesb says
Amen Scott on the vote Democratic call so that your vote = electoral’s vote to get rid of him….

Another example of James’s campaign of hate.
I didn’t see anything in tlaib’s ststement that suggested she doesn’t trust Warren. In fact, she expressed concern that the Democratic nominee should not sell itself out to conservatives. Do you really think she supports Biden’s support for military oprerations and his opposition to healthcare reform?
I am pretty sure that Tlaib will easily endorse Warren if she wins the nomination. And while I still don’t Know who I will vote for in the primary, when I do endorse, it should not be interpreted as criticism for another candidate – unless I specifically say so.
jamesb says
Z?
What are u talking about?
Hate?
Me HATE who?
I have NO idea who Talib might endorse?
Do you have inside info?
Zreebs says
How cute! You hate no one! You are just distorting things for no reason at all!
Why are you now pretending that you don’t know that Tlaib endorsed Sanders. Did you bother to read the post or did you not understand what you read?
So what did Tlaib say about Warren that I missed when you made up shit that Tlaib is not comfortable with her?
jamesb says
I believe my comment was Warren might be happy with the ‘squad’ endorsing Sanders not her….
Is it U that added the word ‘hate’?
Wasn’t me…
jamesb says
Cute?

US Representative Ayanna Pressley, a rising progressive star and the first black woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress, announced Wednesday she is endorsing Senator Elizabeth Warren for president, delivering a major boost to the Cambridge Democrat as she faces growing attacks from her political rivals.
In supporting Warren, Pressley is breaking with the three other progressive freshmen lawmakers who make up “The Squad” — Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib — who all recently endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
