Donald Trump REALLY hates the guy who had Presidency before him….
Barack Obama seems to get under his thin skin…..
So much that he just said something REALLY stupid and small minded….
President Trump on Friday lashed out at Democrats over their ongoing investigations into his administration, suggesting there should instead be probes into former President Obama’s book deal and other activities under his predecessor.
“They want to investigate, they want to go fishing and I watched Bob Mueller and they have nothing,” Trump said of Democrats during an Oval Office gathering to announce an agreement with Guatemala.
“It’s a disgrace,” he continued. “We want to find out what happened the last Democrat president. Let’s look into Obama the way they’ve looked into me. From day one they’ve looked into everything we’ve done.”
“They could look into the book deal that President Obama made. Let’s subpoena all of his records,” Trump continued. “Let’s subpoena all of the records having to do with Hillary Clinton and all of the nonsense that went on with Clinton and her foundation and everything else.”
Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama signed lucrative book deals with Penguin Random House in 2017 after they left office. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
It is not uncommon for presidents to sign book deals to write a memoir upon leaving office. Former President George W. Bush signed a deal with Crown Publishing in 2009.
In a bizarre criticism later in the media availability, Trump complained about a new air conditioning system he said was installed in the West Wing during the Obama administration…..

In my view, our country has become the obsessed with “investigations.”
Further, I believe that most are for pure political reasons.
I’m wondering exactly how one “investigates” the signing of a contract to write a book?
jamesb says
We maybe obsessed with investigation’s but Donald Trump, a rich businessman, who won’t let America know about the money he’s making AS President, and has already had New York State win legal actions against some of business actions, including closing down his foundations and reviewing his tax exempt status?….Needs Congress, New York State and the media to KEEP DIGGING….
We know he’s a crook….
As President?….
We’d like to know how MUCH of a crook he is….
My Name Is Jack says
The American people have the right to elect a “crook” President.
Apparently ,the overwhelming number of people who call themselves Republican want a crook in the highest office.
Anyone who thinks these “investigations “are going to change that?
Simply kidding themselves.
Yeah keep “digging” and you know what it’s going to accomplish?Nothing.
jamesb says
As I indicate….
NYS State has ALREADY scored TWO legal actions against Trump….
Closing down his school and foundation….
Those two things are hardly Nothing…
Trump is still crying about NY State on his ass….
My Name Is Jack says
I was referring to the fact that it will accomplish nothing as far as changing the minds of Republicans and so called “independents”(people who ,while claiming not to be Republicans ,vote that way well over 90% of the time) as regards their support of Trump.
You want to get rid of Trump? Its going to be done by defeating him in an election and resources would be much better expended in that direction then the countless hours spent on these “investigations.”
I understand you like them though.People who like to engage in mindless hyperbolic rages often do.
jamesb says
indie’s are leaving Trump also..
I agree it’s about next November in getting rid of Trump…
and we need a clear cut EC victory…
so Trump has NO WIGGLE room….
My Name Is Jack says
We all know that you continue to push this narrative that Trump is “losing” support and engage in inane mindless quibbles over a percentage point here and there.
The simple truth is that Trumps support, during his presidency ,has remained remarkably stable, albeit at a lower level than most incumbent presidents.
His support or lack thereof among so called”independents ?” About the same.
It is my contention, and has been for some time, is that true Independents comprise only a small part of those who classify themselves as such.Accordingly, there is a substantial chunk of Trump supporters ,who call themselves,” Independents,” as I alluded to above, and their support for Trump has wavered little,if at all.
As of now?We are heading into an election ,the results of which may be very nearly the same as last time with only small deviations in the actual vote from last time. The question is whether these small differences will accrue to the benefit of Trump or the Democratic nominee.
As requires constant reiteration, the change of 60,000 votes in three states and Trump would have lost. There is nothing to indicate he has gained much support since them ,nor much to indicate he has lost much support either.
As I said, his support level has been remarkably stable, your constant rattling off of statistical minutiae notwithstanding.
jamesb says
While Trump’s numbers have not changed with a few % points?
the midterm election and post midterm polling have been showing slippage..
if ur theory was correct?
The Democrat would NOT have had a ‘wave’ election move last year,.
Again?
I’m NOT buying ur fatalistic view of Democrats chances next November…
Trump must thread a nettle to win next time….
Right Now?
It would seem that the odds are against him pulling out a second term…
My Name Is Jack says
No “fatalistic view “at all.
Indeed ,just yesterday, I specifically rated Trump an underdog.Having said that ,I am realistic enough to see that,as of now, a likely very close election is in the offing.
Your hatred of Trump is so great that you simply want certain things to be true which quite demonstrably aren’t.Then, when confronted with facts, you lash out at anyone who presents them ,as I just did ,with statements that are once again demonstrably false.
Finally, using midterm election results as a barometer for a succeeding presidential election is a fools errand. In 2010 Republicans scored major victories, ask President Romney how that turned out for him.
jamesb says
I don’t know Donald Trump….
I just want him out of the Presidency…
And people who get paid to do forecasts have just about ALL used the 2018 midterms in their predictions…..
Democratic Socialist Dave says
In 1982, the Democrats gained 17 House seats (although. as in 2018, slipping slightly in the Senate), but two years later, Walter Mondale got a 49-2 creaming in the Electoral College (59% – 41% in popular votes).
However, Ronald Reagan was an infinitely more popular guy than Donald Trump.
Scott P says
Every President who has left office in recent years has had a book deal. I guess Obama being the only black Democrat to do so is enough for Trump’s Republican cultists to think of it as somehow suspicious.
jamesb says
It seems like ever since Obama tore Trump a new one (and the whole audience laughed AT Trump) at the correspondents dinner back then?
Trump has hated the former President…
My Name Is Jack says
Too bad Obama can’t run again.
I have little doubt he would defeat Trump fairly decisively.
Trump probably believes that too and such further drives him crazy.
jamesb says
Trump probably see’s Obama in his mind every time he see’s Obama and OF COURSE in the end the media WILL push Biden as Obama 2.0….
(Which IS what Biden is pushing)
My Name Is Jack says
The question is whether a nominee Biden could turn out the Black vote in anywhere near the numbers Obama did.
Had Hillary done so,Donald Trump would be back doing a reality show now rather than in the White House.
Scott P says
The black vote is also key to Biden winning the Democratic nomination. Older African Americans stay with him and it’s game over for any other challenger. If they gravitate to another candidate ( most likely Harris) he’s got a real fight on his hands.
In the general Trump is writing off any significant gains with the black or urban vote as evidenced today by his attack on Elijah Cummings and his Blaltimore district that Trump labeled “rodent and rat infested”
jamesb says
So far older Blacks ARE staying with Biden…
Harris got her bounce, but is now back in court place….
Booker is in LOW single digits…
I agree with ya
Attacking Cummings isn’t gonna get Trump any Black support….
jamesb says
Trump’s handliers alibi their boss….
Washington Post: “The outburst also undercut efforts by many Republicans over the past two weeks to defend Trump and insist that his earlier attacks were based in ideology rather than race.”
“But Trump’s advisers had concluded after the previous tweets that the overall message sent by such attacks is good for the president among his political base — resonating strongly with the white working-class voters he needs to win reelection in 2020.”
Politicalwite….
My Name Is Jack says
Translation?
They know that .to a large extent, the Republican “base” are at best, resentful of minorities ,or at worst, out and out racists.
You can slice this any way you want.
That’s the bottom line.
jamesb says
And jack you have reminded us of how slim Trump’s margins was ….
That was BEFORE he got into office and started generating a HISTORY of screw-ups, a faltering economy and a trail of illegality…..
My Name Is Jack says
Yes I have and I will continue to.
What I won’t “remind”(because I don’t believe it’s true) is that Trump is losing support to any great extent among his supporters .
jamesb says
I have NEVER used the word ‘s ‘great extent’….
I HAVE nearly pointed out a softening in his support even among Republicans….
There ARE TONS of ink about the suburban women abandoning him….
My Name Is Jack says
His support among Republicans has consistently, during the entirety of his presidency averaged between 80-90%,a poll the other day showed at above 90%.
You simply refuse to admit that there is no evidence to indicate that among Republicans his support is “softening,” a meaningless term in itself that you have seized on lately.
Even worse is the likelihood that even Most Republicans that “disapprove “ of him will support him against any potential Democratic nominee.Indeed, over at CGs old stomping ground,HHR,there are several regular posters who vigorously denounce Trump , but then concede that they will vote for him .
You totally overlook this very important factor in all this.
Right now?In my view ,yes 90%+ of Self identified Republicans would vote for Donald Trump .Changing circumstances are always possible of course , but certainly your customarily flawed reasoning will have no effect on my view.
You just want to believe ,and have since Trumps ascension to leadership of the Republican Party ,that Republicans are “turning on him.”
They’re not but hope dies hard with you.
jamesb says
You have your view….
I have mine…..
