Oops, he did it again.
Donald Trump set the Left aflame Friday afternoon, with a simple tweet of a simple structure: He submitted a cartoon representation of the country’s “beautiful” upcoming wall.
It wasn’t the first time the President has characterized the wall as such (see here), but it was the first representation of its kind, so far as I know, that he’s revealed to the nation (please correct me otherwise).
Trump, as you no doubt are aware, is settled in for “a very long shutdown,” despite Chuck Schumer’s insistence that he “abandon the wall.”
In response to the tweet, many on the Left abandoned their minds, lost to the chaos of the outrage machine….

We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with. Hard to believe there was a Congress & President who would approve!

….The United States looses soooo much money on Trade with Mexico under NAFTA, over 75 Billion Dollars a year (not including Drug Money which would be many times that amount), that I would consider closing the Southern Border a “profit making operation.” We build a Wall or…..
…..close the Southern Border. Bring our car industry back into the United States where it belongs. Go back to pre-NAFTA, before so many of our companies and jobs were so foolishly sent to Mexico. Either we build (finish) the Wall or we close the Border……

All those folks are leaving Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala because conditions seem to be getting worse with few prospects for improvement. Most of them would far prefer to stay where they are, with their families, communities, culture and customary occupations.
So making things worse for those who are there now (or will be forced to return there) will somehow slow down immigration to the North ????
Complicated and legitimate arguments can be made about the best response to the collapsing situations in Nicaragua and Venezuela (which is also forcing millions to flee poverty, idleness, dysfunction and scarcity) because of their quasi-Castroite governments’ mutual hostility with the U.S. But insofar as I know, the current governments of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala have no such incompatibility with American interests or ideals.
