“Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair….” the president tweeted. “….and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”
CNN has both a domestic and international network.
The U.S. government currently funds Voice of America, an international radio broadcast source. Congress in 2017 eliminated the board of directors for the organization, with a new CEO position created, which is appointed by the president….

A real public-broadcast network, whether directed domestically, abroad or both (e.g. PBS, the BBC, the CBC, VoA), needs a Board of Directors or Governors (for example, the BBC’s) to keep at least some oversight with some sense and spirit of balance.
Of course as human beings in a contemporary world, they don’t always succeed and sometimes either quash or exaggerate a particular point of view (socialism, capitalism, liberalism, conservatism, class harmony, class strife, imperialism, anti-colonialism, anti-Communism, apologies for Communism, militarism, pacifism, appeasement, social conservatism, social dissent, internationalism, nationalism, etc.) But in the long run, it’s far better to have the check of a body that is somewhat balanced over time than to rely on a single executive, no matter how dedicated, such as Lord Reith or William Paley. Especially a single executive appointed by the President.
Otherwise, the network is easily dismissed and discounted from the start as just another tool of propaganda on the level of North Korea’s broadcasts.

But I see this as nothing but a bid by Trump to get his OWN media outlet with the idea that he could control that media message since he would pick the head of the organization…
I see this as a first step in Trump’s ego magic way of trying to become ruler for life of a conquered America…
This will, of course , go nowhere even with Republicans who are a captive audience …
And who KNOW that everything Trump touches turns to shit….Eventually….
