There are reports that he has ALREADY been supplying info on Trump and Russian business connections he and Trump have had in the past…
Manafort seems to have had worries about his families safety in connect with the Russians and will get Federal protection for his family if needed…
Another guy talking to Mueller & Co. …..
Donald Trump is sinking deeper …..
People Trump counted on?…..
Continue to be ‘flipped’ by Mueller & Co…..
President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort pleaded guilty Friday to two criminal charges under terms of a plea deal that includes his cooperation as a potential witness for special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.
The decision by Manafort to provide evidence in hopes of leniency on sentencing is a stunning development in the long-running probe into whether any Trump associates may have conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election.
“I plead guilty,” Manafort told U.S. District Court judge Amy Berman Jackson, who accepted his plea.
Kevin Downing, an attorney for Manafort, gave a brief statement outside the courthouse after the hearing. “He wanted to make sure his family remained safe and live a good life,” Downing said of Manafort. “He has accepted responsibility.”
When asked if the deal with Mueller’s team is a full cooperation agreement, Downing replied “it is.” He did not respond to questions about whether Manafort has been interviewed by Mueller’s team or if Manafort’s defense team remains in a joint defense agreement with Trump’s attorneys….
The plea deal also deals with a possible Trump pardon effort….
Here’s why this deal is pardon proof:
- Mueller spent the hour and a half delay in arraignment doing … something. It’s possible Manafort even presented the key parts of testimony Mueller needs from him to the grand jury this morning.
- The forfeiture in this plea is both criminal and civil, meaning DOJ will be able to get Manafort’s $46 million even with a pardon.
- Some of the dismissed charges are financial ones that can be charged in various states.
Remember, back in January, Trump told friends and aides that Manafort could incriminate him (the implication was that only Manafort could). I believe Mueller needed Manafort to describe what happened in a June 7, 2016 meeting between the men, in advance of the June 9 meeting. I have long suspected there was another meeting at which Manafort may be the only other Trump aide attendee.
And Manafort has probably already provided evidence on whatever Mueller needed.
So here’s what Robert Mueller just did: He sewed up the key witness to implicate the President, and he paid for the entire investigation….
Note….
Anyone believe Rudy Giuliani bullshit that the Mueller will be done anytime soon?

Update….
jamesb says
This is NOT primarily about Manafort….
This is about Trump….
Manafort has been convicted….
A second trial is avoided….
If Manafort bullshits the Fed’s the deal is gone…
Also?
State charges COULD be leveled if a pardon was given…
Mueller & Co. now gets to vacuum up MORE info that has to be double checked with others since Manafort IS a convicted criminal….
jamesb says
Elizabeth Holtzoman on MSNBC just now….
Pardon’s where offered by Richard Nixon’s people to the Watergate burglers…
That offer was included in the articles of impeachment AGAINST Nixon…
So?
Trump offering pardon’s to ANYONE under investigation COULD very well be used AGAINST Trump in a obstruction charge…

Your view of Manafort Jack?
My Name Is Jack says
I don’t have enough information to have one really.
All anyone knows is he copped a plea and agreed to “cooperate.”
No one knows what he knows,if anything, about Trump and his activities vis a vis Russia.Remember that is still the focus of the Mueller investigation.
jamesb says
Yes…
But all these guys are sending Mueller and others to go on the other thing that was in his mission ….
To follow up on any OTHER criminality he might uncover…
And it looks like there is a lot….
Mueller will be in business for a long time more…
My Name Is Jack says
“And there looks like there is a lot”
On what facts(not your well known “speculation “) do you base this?
Manafort may very well “know” information that “may” lead to further prosecutions.Right now though, we have nothing but “speculation.”
I stated awhile back that any lawyer worth his salt would be very leery of taking a client like Manafort in front of a DC jury.If you remember this plea bargaining began in earnest only after the motion for a change of venue was denied.

I now have more information.
Apparently , Manafort made a proffer, or a statement as to information he has, and such was mentioned in his plea.
Accordingly, Mueller is now aware of what he knows and thus the plea agreement was based on that information.
Since they dropped five of the seven charges the info must have been valuable, thus, there is the “lot” you referred to, James.
However, since you never answered my question.I presume you didn’t know any of this when you made the statement.
jamesb says
I knew some of it….
Guess the other….
Was on target….
