It is a view that seems to show man off the hook, who lies and has no real grasp of reality….
The book has revelations of staff taking things from Trump’s desk because they are scared of what he might do…..
Woodward’s book will be serious and strongly backed up with memo’s , interviews and other sources of data…..
The book COULD effect the politics of the upcoming elections in shedding the light on a man in the American Presidency that is clueless….
The obvious question the book asks?
WTF would a country of more than 300 million people leave such a person in the American Presidency?
We see inside people having to keep this guy from completely fucking up things….

I for one am willing to give Woodward the “benefit of the doubt.”
This isn’t a question of whether or not a candidate was using a racist dog whistle (he was). It’s a question or not if you believe an author who has always been well sourced, especially when two previous books have the same reports.
No the question, the only question, is why the Republicans in Congress haven’t done anything about it?
But by all means let’s question how accurate Woodward is, it’s easier than confronting people who put their party over country.

So, nobody will agree as to what is said.
With Woodward though, he always presents long-conversations in quotes as if he was in the room recording it and it’s just impossible to determine how much liberty he is taking in re-creating these conversations.
They will be running scared of Trump’s wrath

I just read the Op-ed (very well-written.)
This drama is “better” than anything television or motion pictures could ever have come up with.
One day, one way or another, we will probably find out the author. Maybe it’s Kellyanne? Her husband would have helped her write it.
As expected, Trump fans are saying this is completely fabricated by the New York Times and that no Administration official submitted this essay.
Defending Trump makes people take leave of their minds.
For all the historic flaws and biases of the New York Times, there is absolutely ZERO chance they would be stupid enough to do this as a phony stunt. They would risk losing everything and being put out of business.
Somebody can claim that the anonymous author is lying about the whole thing, perhaps in some universe that might be possible, but there is ZERO chance that this was not provided to the NYT by a senior Trump Administration official, as said.

They must be REALLY under YUGE pressure to have spoken to Woodward on the record….
The author basically says the Cabinet was alarmed at the start (which is why I think it might very well be Gen. Kelly who wrote this) and started discussing the 25th Amendment.
All of them, from Pence on down, have to be afraid of Trump’s base and what those people might wind up doing politically. If the bottom ever fell out from Trump as far as public support, you may not even need an impeachment. They might just go right to the 25th Amendment.
Whomever wrote this, he or she went out of their freakin’ way to cite John McCain and his Farewell Letter as the grand finale. This is not nothing by a huge “f you” to Trump personally. They want him to be traumatized by reading this.
No tv show about a White House could have come up with this stuff..
If I had the resources or inclination to try to figure this mystery out, I would narrow in on the words “moored to” that the author uses and cross-check it against anything previously written by all sorts of senior Administration officials. Not many people are likely to have ever used that term.
It just sounds to me like something that would be said by someone a bit older and perhaps who was in the military at a high level.
I wonder how long ago this was written or has been in possession by the NYT, because based on the phone call that Woodward released of him and Trump, Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah, would understandably be a bit upset, after hearing Trump say that he barely knew who he was.
Since I know of no air-force or naval veterans serving in the inner White House, I’d guess that a Marine (e.g. John Kelly) would be more likely to write “moored to” than an army veteran.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke advanced pretty high in the Navy.
It doesn’t say they work in the White House per se. Whomever wrote it also seems to be of “Trump isn’t a real Republican” mindset, so may very well have a history with the party going back well before him.

To me, the op-ed is a bigger deal than the book. Woodward has “bombshell” books about every President. The detractors of the President go nuts over it and the fans of the President say Woodward is a hack or past his prime, etc. We already knew that Trump is nuts.
This is actually a primary source speaking in their own voice (albeit anonymously). This has to be a first in the history of the Presidency.
And yes, while it could be debated what these people who feel this way should actually do, it does sort of give an insight into their mindset and why they believe they have to stay and even why they may have to lie publicly to keep their jobs.
Others are narrowing in on the use of the word “lodestar”, which I think is also smart to do. (and it may very well be that the author used words that colleagues are known to use just to cover themself)
Trump is calling the person “gutless” for staying anonymous which I guess will be the new narrative since they aren’t going to try to say that the New York Times just made it all up as a parody.
The author should have used the pen name “John Barron.”
