The Congresswoman from California speaks her mind at a zero-tolerance rally after being the subject of violence and death threats….
Days after she was forced to cancel events because of a “very serious” death threat, a fired-up Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) declared at a rally Saturday, “If you shoot at me, you’d better shoot straight.”
Waters made her defiant statement at the Families Belong Together rally in Los Angeles, which drew several thousand protesters against President Donald Trump’s zero tolerance immigration policy. The rally was one of hundreds across the nation.
“I have no fear. I’m in this fight,” she vowed to cheers.
“I know that there are those who are talking about censuring me, talking about kicking me out of Congress, talking about shooting me, talking about hanging me,” Waters added.
“All I have to say is this: If you shoot me, you’d better shoot straight. There’s nothing like a wounded animal. I am prepared to make whatever sacrifices need to be made.”
Waters was attacked by the president and others after she called on protesters earlier in the week to confront members of the Trump administration in public over the immigration policy….

Black female leaders and allies expressed their “deep disappointment“ with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for their “recent failure to protect“ Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) “from unwarranted attacks from the Trump administration and others in the GOP.“….

That¦s because the Democratic leaders were talking sense, while Maxine Waters was just expressing understandable but completely and utterly counter-productive emotion (i.e. giving the bigoted, xenophobic Trumpeteers an easy way out of the hole into which they had dug themselves).

I’ll admit that she’s a bit out there
But I defend her right to be a bit out here
And?
She isn’r As far out there as Trump and some of his ‘yes’ people

The way I see it is if the conservative courts can rule that a baker can discriminate against gay people because of who they want to marry, then surely it follows that a restaurant should not have to serve food to people who spread and defend hate.
I’m sure CG agrees because he has stated that he is consistent in his views. I must have missed his post on this demanding consistency from conservatives.

James. your auto-correct seems to be lowering your coherence to Trump-tweet levels, for example
“I country founded on the declaration of church, state and religion
Has, it seems, gone back against it roots”
Which I tentatively translate as:
“A country founded on the separation of church and state [or state and religion]*

Very impressive Dave. Perhaps you missed your calling as a translator?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I missed that calling, Z, but I have done my share of editing and proof-reading over the years; — had I had any common sense I would have fallen back on proof-reading as a career or occupation*, but I probably would have been too slow and too much of an opinionated individualist to follow or impose House Style.
* Among other things, starting out at the copy desk of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal or The New Yorker is the classic entry-level post that starts reporters’ and editors’ careers (vaguely parallel to getting a job in the mail room of Merrill Lynch, Paramount, GE or Bloomberg) — although such grand institutions are in a position to consider only the brightest alumni of élite college newspapers for such humble positions.

You DO have skills DSD…

Believe it or not, I also have done a lot of editing over the years, but fortunately everyone was a half-way decent writer to begin with, so 99.99% or the time I knew what they were trying to say.
Of course at pdog, no one one does or should spend a lot of time Re-reading orcediting what they write. Now that Manila has moved on, only one person here remains who struggles communicating:

A mysterious package labeled “anthrax” led to an evacuation of Congresswoman Maxine Waters’ office in Los Angeles on Tuesday, officials said.
Police responded to the location around 2:30 p.m. and called in a hazardous materials team from the Los Angeles Fire Department, an LAPD source told the Daily News….
