It just gets worst everyday….
We ARE watching a President of the United States run around with his hair on fire because he IS worried about a LOT of stuff he has done that ain’t legit….
The guy has tried things that are against the rules and norms….
But then again he doesn’t think they apply to him….
I guess Jeff Sessions kinda figured he wouldn’t go down with the ship if Trump does….
Mueller’s people have questioned the Attorney General on Trump’s influence attempt….
President Donald Trump asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions to reverse his decision to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election, according to a report in The New York Times.
The meeting is under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller‘s team, which is seeking to find out whether Trump has made attempts to obstruct the probe, the Times said. It’s also an indication that Mueller’s obstruction probe into Trump is more extensive than previously thought.
The recusal kept Sessions from overseeing the special counsel’s investigation into possible Russian involvement with the Trump campaign, ceding responsibility to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein….
It looks like Rush Limbaugh was beside himself today because Trey Gowdy isn’t backing up all the “Spygate” b.s.
No surprise there. Limbaugh has always been a piece of shit. Now he’s a fully Trump branded piece of shit. And as popular with Republicans as always.
And of course, Gowdy speaks the truth on Trump now because he’s leaving D.C.
Limbaugh is not as “popular as ever” with Republicans. All indications are that his ratings, etc, are way down and have been on a downward slide for a while.
I think Gowdy has always been pretty honest for a politician. I hope we will not have heard the last of him.
Gowdy sent most of his career in Congress as a conspiracy theorist. Now that he is retiring and he states the obvious, he gets tons of praise. But he said nothing when it mattered.
Pathetic, but I agree with CG that even those minor comments are better than what we have come to expect to hear days from Republicans.
What conspiracy?
https://newrepublic.com/minutes/146865/say-good-bye-trey-gowdy-chief-benghazi-truther
Long before he announced his retirement, Gowdy has been saying that the investigation into the Trump campaign must be allowed to play out. His remarks are not really new.
Now, as far as the source that Zreebs provided to Gowdy, it happens to be extremely weak (though they may have a point about his hair.)
The New Republic is a left-wing publication and they give no actual evidence to suggest that Gowdy did anything inappropriate or unprofessional during the Congressional Benghazi hearings. It was an important matter that needed to be looked at. He never made any wild accusations against Hillary Clinton or anyone. Hillary apologists acted and still act in many cases like Trump apologists though by just dismissing any legitimate inquiry as a “witch hunt.”
So, I still fail to see what “conspiracy theory” Gowdy ever peddled.
Is Gowdy trying to atone for the Benghazi fuckup?
You people should check out Joe Walsh on Twitter, the former one term Congressman, who now has a syndicated radio show out of Chicago.
There are a ton of things that he believes that I disagree with and I definitely would not want him speaking for the party, with his style and tactics, but as much as he supports and likes many things about Trump, he actually has principles that go beyond Democrat vs Republican and he has been pretty consistent in criticizing Trump on the Russian matter and other things. He also thinks that Republicans should be prepared to suffer huge losses in 2018 and people like Hannity and Limbaugh are full of crap when it comes to that. He Tweets a ton and Politics1 often features him.
Gowdy would never have made that statement if he was running again.
It is also noteworthy that in his statement he fashions it as a defense of Trump, noting that Trump has said he wants the “truth” to come out and that Trump isn’t a “target” of the investigation(which Gowdy,as a former prosecutor well knows is of no significance).
The race for Gowdys seat is characterized by the large number of candidates and their efforts to “out Trump “each other which brings to mind a question I have.
I’ll direct it to CG and James both of whom regularly assure us of the strength of anti Trump feeling in the Republican Party.,
Who are some of those running for Republican nominations for House or Senate seats who are running on anti Trump platforms?
I recall when Reagan won, there were candidates who began to call themselves Reagan Republican, but they seemed to be far fewer than the number of Republicans calling themselves a Trump Republican. From their perspective, finally, the GOP has a candidates whose words and values matches his political positions.
On your Gowdy Anti-Trump 2018 Midterms question Jack?….
None that I can think of now….
If they are?
They would be runing in Blue districts…
I HAVE pointed out that Trump’s support by a lot of lawmakers is a duality…
Like Romney…
They say Trump is essentially nuts….
They as you point out….
They go and twist and turn to vote with him, most, but not all of the time….
