The NY Times reporter and editor ARE coming under questioning on their negitive piece on Graham Platner and women in his past….
An ex-girlfriend of Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner is expressing her frustration with The New York Times over the way it portrayed her and others’ experience dating the Democrat.
Lyndsey Fifield, who the Times quoted as part of a wide ranging story detailing allegations of “unsettling” behavior in Platner’s dating life, said she feels betrayed by the way the paper handled the information she gave them about her experience with the Senate hopeful.
“I bucked all advice from my friends (and resisted my conservative bias) and decided to fully trust the Times journalists,” Fifield wrote in a string of social media posts. “As they left my home they asked that I not talk to any other outlets and I insisted then and repeatedly over the following weeks that I would keep my word and only share this story with them.”
Other women interviewed for the story, headlined “Several Women Who Dated Graham Platner Recall ‘Unsettling’ Behavior,” described Platner as “a fun and caring partner.”
After the piece was published on Thursday, Fifield said she asked Times journalists “wait, where are the stories from the other women? Where are their accusations of sexual assault? Why am I the focus? Why are there 11 paragraphs dedicated to detailing my work history (more than has been published about Graham’s by far)?”
“The editors said it was too much, they explained,” she continued. “The Times also failed to include any mention that I DID confide in multiple friends through the years that Graham had been abusive — long before he was running for office. Those friends confirm they told the Times so.”….
Note….
This angled story by the NY Times COULD actually help Platner in more ways then people thought….
Platner IS STILL polling ahead of Susan Collins….
