A new bipartisan bill would remove the U.S. Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), following several threats to President Trump’s life and a record-breaking lapse in DHS funding.
Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) and Russell Fry (R-S.C.) are co-leading the legislation, which would transfer the federal law enforcement agency to the Executive Office of the President. ….

Moskowitz also announced other bipartisan-backed bills to reassign DHS agencies on Thursday, following a record funding shutdown at the department….

Trump signed a bill to fund most of the agencies under the DHS, excluding Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol. The immigration agencies were previously funded under the president’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
In addition to the Secret Service move, these bills would establish the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as an independent entity and move the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the Transportation Department.
“DHS has simply grown too big and too vulnerable to political dysfunction,” Moskowitz said in a Thursday statement.
“Let’s be clear: when a department becomes this massive, the mission gets lost,” he continued. “Secret Service needs help and under the current DHS bureaucracy, that reform is never going to happen. FEMA needs to be able to move faster when disaster strikes, and it cannot do that when it is buried inside a massive bureaucracy. And airport security should be aligned with the same FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] that governs our skies.”
Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), who is running for governor, joined the FEMA Independence Act, which would install the organization as a Cabinet-level agency that directly reports to the president. The pair previously introduced the bill last fall….

Additionally, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) is co-leading the bill to move TSA under the Transportation Department. The agency was moved to the DHS in 2003.
“The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been used as pawns during recent government shutdowns because it is controlled by the Department of Homeland Security,” Burchett said in a Thursday statement. “Since the Department of Transportation already oversees air travel in the United States, it should also be responsible for overseeing the personnel who provide its security.” ….

Under NO circumstances should the Secret Service become a agency solely OF THE President….
The agency came from the Treasury Dept. which actually works with it’s primary function of working on money, credit card and currency investigation’s….
The agency protects the President b ut MOST of it’s work IS NOT body guard work….
They should NOT be solely the palace guard that changes allegiance every four years….
