This week, we’ve got a bunch of losers. Well, we always have a bunch of losers these days, but all of these are actual losers with recent losses. Let’s indulge ourselves and revel in things like treason aficionado John Eastman getting his comeuppance or Live Nation losing big. We deserve it.

Poor John Eastman. All he did was invent a fake electors scheme to help President Donald Trump overturn a free and fair election, and here he is, getting disbarred for it. What is this world coming to when a lawyer can’t commit a little light treason?

Last year, the California State Bar Court issued a sprawling opinion recommending that Eastman be disbarred. Eastman filed a petition for review with the California Supreme Court, but the court didn’t take up the petition. In California, the state supreme court’s word is the final decision.
Eastman has fought this for years, but it’s a fight that Trump can’t intervene in and wash away consequences like he did for the seditionists who actually stormed the Capitol. Bar discipline is regulated at the state level, and this is not a criminal case. Predictably, Eastman is now running to the United States Supreme Court, saying his First Amendment rights are violated if he can’t do treason-y stuff with elections. …

The Trump administration has pulled out all the stops in order to make sure no one finds out what really happened when the so-called Department of Government Efficiency got its mitts on Social Security data. The Supreme Court did the administration a solid last year with a shadow docket ruling that said even though litigation was proceeding, DOGE got to paw through SSA data anyway….
