*Update…
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is out, Trump says, after controversial tenure
President Donald Trump announced the decision on social media and said Noem would be replaced with Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.)…..
…
I guess I missed how much trouble she generated in her time in the job and her appearnce before the Republicans in the House this week….
Hot Damn!….
….
Probably NOT…..
If he won’t fire Miller or Hegseth or even Homan?
Why Krisiti Noem?
Donald actually isn’t the guy who used to run on ‘Your Fired’….
(Even he takes political flak)
It just isn’t him…
President Donald Trump is weighing replacing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem amid mounting frustrations both in the administration and on Capitol Hill over her management of the department, according to multiple sources who spoke with CNN.
Noem, who was tapped by Trump to helm DHS at the start of his administration, has faced growing scrutiny over her conduct in the position, including her alleged romantic relationship with her chief adviser, distribution of the windfall of cash the department has received — particularly for an ad campaign that showcased her prominently — and her conflicting accounts over fatal incidents involving federal immigration agents.
Current and former Homeland Security officials have privately questioned how much longer the secretary would remain in the post following what they perceived as a series of missteps. Those include blindsiding the White House with a decision to pause TSA precheck during the current DHS funding lapse — a decision that was reversed within hours — and her responses during two congressional hearings this week….
….
Trump himself was angry with how the hearings went — particularly her assertion, which he denies, that the president was aware of an expensive DHS ad campaign that featured her. He has indicated in conversations with some Republican lawmakers that he’s open to replacing her, floating names of various members of Congress as potential replacements, sources told CNN. Punchbowl News previously reported on Trump’s conversations with Hill Republicans.
Since the fatal shootings of US citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, and Noem’s controversial responses, Trump has been asking allies about what they think of her. Those close to him believed at the time that it was largely Trump being Trump — he often asks about his team and how they are doing, particularly amid backlash….
….
Update…
Mullin said he found out about his nomination before Trump’s post went out.
The GOP criticism of Noem intensified earlier this year, with White House allies blaming her for the chaotic fallout from the DHS enforcement surge in Minneapolis.
Republicans criticized her for rushing to speak on television in the wake of the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents, arguing that her approach undermined public trust in ongoing investigations.
The criticisms of DHS leadership also apply to Lewandowski, as current and former administration officials have questioned how he’s counting his days at the agency — given he was originally tapped as a special governmental employee, a temporary role that is supposed to be limited to 130 days per year of unpaid work.
A DHS spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Lewandowski’s future.
Noem this week also refused to answer questions from House Democrats about her relationship with her special adviser, including whether they had “sexual relations” during her tenure at DHS.
Other outlets have alleged the two have had an intimate relationship, though both denied the claims.
Lewandowski has also been involved in greenlighting any contract exceeding $100,000 at the agency, as well as other high-level decisions. An administration official, granted anonymity to speak candidly, said that Lewandowski is also in trouble, pointing to DHS’s aborted decision last month to shutdown TSA PreCheck as a bargaining maneuver aimed at forcing Democrats to fund the department, among other incidents….
…
Noem, formerly a House member and then the governor of South Dakota, had little background on national security issues when Trump tapped her to take the reins of DHS. But she earned the position after lobbying from Lewandowski, jumping into a sprawling agency that manages immigration enforcement, counterterrorism, intelligence collection, disaster relief and the nation’s cybersecurity defenses.
She was quickly dogged by scandals around her spending of funds allocated to the department for immigration enforcement under the One Big Beautiful Bill. Noem was pilloried by Democrats for spending millions of dollars to buy what they characterized as “luxury” jets that DHS claimed would be used for deportations and “command and control” flights. Democrats also alleged that Noem personally benefited from her service as Homeland Security secretary after reports emerged she was living rent free in the government-owned house typically reserved for the Coast Guard commandant.
DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency experienced major staff cuts under her watch, at a time when the U.S. faces pronounced cyberthreats from foreign adversaries and criminal hackers.
Detractors have also argued her overhaul of the Federal Emergency Management Agency has done little to address inefficiencies at the agency, while making it more difficult for the federal government to respond to crises. Similar disruptions to DHS’ intelligence arm have raised questions among law enforcement groups about whether DHS is still equipped to respond to terror attacks.
Republicans are uniformly largely praising Trump’s selection of Mullin as a good move for the department. While most Republicans are taking pains to still praise Noem, some of her detractors took glee in her removal from the post.
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) called Mullin “a great choice to lead DHS, restore competence, and refocus efforts” at the department and noted Mullin “likes dogs,” a dig at Noem in light of a story she included in her memoir about shooting a young dog she was training….
Note…
There IS another thing in this….
Trump old running buddy Corey Lewandowski is rumoured to be Krisiti Noem’s close ‘friend?’

He just did
Fired her… like a Dog.
HOT DAM!
Well at least he didn’t shoot her!
Fired her right before she went out to give a speech. Made up some nonsense new job to “appoint” her to. She is out giving a speech right now looking shellshocked and acting like she did not just get fired. A George Costanza moment (if anyone knows what that refers to)
Thanks CG…..
Cricket went out with more dignity
So many people on cable news channels are talking as is Senate confirmation is not required.
In the meantime, it sounds like Mullin never even formally agreed to take the job.
How soon can a confirmation process take place in the Senate? The filing deadline in Oklahoma for his Senate seat is early April. Do candidates start announcing today? Lots of questions.
Trump hates OK Gov Kevin Stitt whom in the meantime would get to pick a replacement Senator.
He can hold the job for 120 days w/o being confirmed
No, it would not work that way. It cannot be a recess appointment and he is not currently in the Department. He is a Senator.
He will likely be confirmed, but they will have to put it on a fasttrack to get anything done this month. He is going to have to resign from the Senate of course and it definitely scrambles politics in OK with very little notice this year, even though it is a very red state.
Ok….
Safe Red seat?
He’ll be confirmed if there are no hiccups …..
He’s gonna have to front some changes for DHS
Gonna have to square off with Miller
This IS gonna be interesting
I wouldn’t take the job if I couldn’t run the dept vs Miller who IS actually the problem
Mullin will do whatever the White House wants. There will be no change in policy. There are so many more serious people could have picked, including OK Sen. James Lankford, but Trump is obsessed with someone “looking like they are from central casting.”
There should be a difficult confirmation but who knows. I think Fetterman will be the only Democrat who votes to confirm.
I think Lisa Murkowski might vote no and obviously Susan Collins is in a tough spot as to what she will do,but other than that, and potentially Thom Tillis just not giving an f anymore, there will probably be enough votes to confirm Mullin, counting his own.
The guy will NOT be confirmed if he follows DIRECTLY in Noem’s footsteps ….
There won’t be a DHS Spending budget either
I’m not saying Miller’s out
But a la Homan?
At least the media presentation GOTTA Change
Dem’s WILL Demand it , actually?
So will some GOPer’s I’d think
Bondi also?
This and spending budget hold IS a signal to Trump to start curbing Miller
Even the warehousing effort seems to be having issues
Noem, was fired for political reasons. It has nothing to do with Miller, who will remain as influential as ever.
Miller IS already being pointed at
Again, about 2 percent of the country has heard of Stephen Miller.
He is very valuable within the White House. Trump relies on him.
Noem fell into a trap about when Sen. Kennedy asked her about her television ads and she said Trump approved them.
So, that got her “promoted” to Special Envoy to the Shield of the Americas, which lucky for her might involve a lot of costumes.
EVERYBODY in Congress KNOWS ABOUT Miller
AGAIN?
DHS Spending Budget ain’t done and Dem’s ARE under pressure to get a piece OUT of the Trump deportation effort….
Watch live: Noem speaks moments after Trump ousts her from DHS
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is giving previously scheduled remarks in Nashville, Tenn., shortly after President Trump announced he was removing her from Department of Homeland Security leadership.
Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said he will replace her at the department with Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.). Noem will be shifting to the role of special envoy for “The Shield of Americas,” according to the president, a new initiative for the Western Hemisphere.
Trump thanked Noem for her service, stating the former South Dakota governor “has served us well.”
He will be confirmed narrowly. Republicans control the Senate.
I’m sure the dog killer will get a show on FOX ot something but her hopes of being a 2028 candidate are dead in that gravel pit she sent poor Cricket.
Also Markwayne is possibly the dumbest ear name I’ve ever heard.
Matkwayne is possibly the dumbest name I’ve ever heard. And Ive heard some hillbilly horseshit !
Ha, ha, ha…..
Handicapped coming out of the gate, eh?
Probably….
Or some RightWing ‘Beauty Show?’
Demi Moore is going to have to use all sorts of grotesque makeup and prosthetics to play Kristi Noem in the movie.
Can you imagine the part being played by a younger Carol Burnett or Jane Curtin?
Sorry to hear of Markwaynes appointment.
With Tommy Turbevilles impending elevation to the governorship of Alabama the coveted position of “Dumbest member of the Senate” is being vacated and Markwayne was a leading contender !
