A Tariff FOR Americans IS a Import TAX…….
Donald maybe trying to sell Tariff’s as something Good…
But they ARE just TAXES WE PAY…..
President Donald Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year, according to new research from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
The cost is set to go even higher this year to $1,300 per household, assuming the existing tariffs stay in place, the research said.
The research called Trump’s tariffs “the largest U.S. tax increase as a percent of GDP since 1993.” It suggests the president’s signature economic policy is exacerbating cost of living concerns at a time when many households are grappling with persistently high prices.
According to the research think tank Tax Foundation, the federal government collected $264 billion in total tariff revenues in 2025 — far short of the trillions regularly touted by the White House. The research also finds the tariffs will offset most of the economic benefits of the new tax cuts from Trump’s signature tax law that took effect this year.
“America’s average tariff rate has increased by nearly tenfold in the past year — while inflation has actually cooled, real wages have risen, GDP growth has accelerated, and trillions in investments continue pouring in to make and hire in America,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement to ABC News.
Tariffs, which fluctuated through 2025 as the U.S. struck trade deals, primarily affected the cost of electronics, toys and cars that aren’t manufactured domestically and foods that are grown abroad. The price of coffee rose by 33.6%, ground beef by 19.3%, romaine lettuce by 16.8% and frozen orange juice by 12.4%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics…..

Trump’s big bet on tax refunds might not pay off…
President Donald Trump is betting that larger tax refunds this spring will help sate Americans’ cravings for economic relief and boost GOP fortunes in November. The political payoff may be fleeting.
The White House believes the average refund could increase by $1,000 thanks to tax cuts in the GOP’s signature legislation, passed last summer. But as tax season kicks off, economists and Republican strategists — and even some of the president’s own allies — warn that the boost American households receive from the refunds may wear off by November.
While Trump and his top advisers have been banking on the refunds as a pocketbook proof point — a moment when voters would finally feel the economy turning in their favor — those skeptics caution that the money could be quickly swallowed up by stubbornly high prices elsewhere.
“The sugar high will be short-lived if [the refunds], in fact, go toward paying and supporting prices of things like additional health care costs, additional insurance costs, additional electricity costs, additional heating costs,” said Diane Swonk, chief economist at the accounting firm KPMG U.S. “The real issue is we’ve gotten prices way out of line, and it takes a very long time to catch up.”
Even allies warn that in a rapid-fire news cycle, the refunds may be long forgotten by the time voters show up to the polls…..
Trump: Americans Are Living In ‘The Trump Economy’ And ‘I’m Very Proud Of It’
President Donald Trump said he’s “very proud” of the current economy while downplaying affordability concerns, saying “prices are way down” with food and gasoline and that he has “fixed the problem” that Democrats created.
In an interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Tom Llamas, which aired Sunday, Trump said Democrats can no longer complain about “affordability” issues thanks to him.
“At what point are we in the Trump economy?” Llamas asked.
“Oh, I’d say we’re there now. I’m very proud of it,” Trump said before claiming 5.6% GDP growth and trillions in foreign investment.
Official data for the latest third quarter, in contrast, showed a 4.4% rate….
