Affidavits related to the FBI’s seizure of Fulton County ballots in the 2020 presidential election were unsealed Tuesday, hours before a federal judge’s deadline to make them public.
The unsealed documents contain two redacted search warrant affidavits authorizing the Jan. 28 search of the Fulton County elections hub as part of an FBI criminal investigation into potential federal election law violations. The search warrants were related to Fulton County’s results in the 2020 presidential election.
The warrants sought to seize physical ballots, tabulator tapes, ballot images and voter rolls from the 2020 election as evidence….

The investigation originated from a referral by Kurt Olsen, an attorney who has become a prominent figure in the Trump administration’s efforts to investigate the 2020 election. Olsen currently serves as a special government employee in the White House, and was appointed by President Donald Trump in October 2025 to lead a probe into whether the 2020 election outcome was the result of fraud or electoral irregularities….

The records release was ordered on Feb. 8, after a motion was filed last week by several media organizations — including Gray Media, parent company of Atlanta News First — to intervene in the case. In total, 16 news organizations joined to the motion with Gray Media….

Fulton County officials also filed a lawsuit last week, seeking the return of the original 2020 election ballots and related records seized by the FBI.
The motion was brought under Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure 41(g), according to Fulton Commissioner Marvin Arrington, Jr., and challenges the legality and scope of the federal seizure.
The motion asks the court to restore the records to a Georgia custodian. Approximately 656 boxes of original 2020 election records were seized…..
