President Trump’s approval rating has sunk to a second-term low, according to a new poll.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday found Trump’s approval sitting at 38 percent, down 9 points from the beginning of the president’s second term, when it was at 47 percent.
In recent weeks, the president has faced intense headwinds on issues like the government shutdown, the controversy surrounding files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Democratic political victories.
Democrats have said the Epstein files are spotlighting the Trump they have attempted to depict for years. Party members also view the controversy as a dilemma for the president because it causes a split between Trump and his core backers.
The president on Tuesday is also sitting at a 42.4 percent approval rating in a polling average from Decision Desk HQ, with his disapproval rating at 55.1 percent.
In the Reuters/Ipsos poll, 20 percent said they back how Trump has dealt with files related to Epstein, while 59 percent said they do not back his handling and 21 percent said they are not sure or gave no response….
