But it’s still early and others ARE getting their toes wet in the 2028 Democratic Presidential nomination sweepstakes….
Jessica Yellin asked Rahm Emanuel about his presidential ambitions and he claimed he’s still deciding — but leaned far in, telling her he’s “going to make my claim” on “education” and “access to the American dream.”
And though he wouldn’t handicap California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, he took a subtle shot at both without naming them: 2028 needs to be “about having a positive vision for the future, not fighting Trump.”
It’s a good interview.
And Marjorie Taylor Greene…
As the music from “ Send In The Clowns” plays in the background.
Post coming on that joke…
I think a more appropriate post would be your response to CGs allegations as to your “ intel” on other posters ,as well as why you chose to share such with CG.
Your failure to respond will lead me ,at least ,and probably others to conclude that his allegations are no longer that ,but in fact are true .
And if such is true, then you should come clean so to speak as exactly what it was you shared with CG.If you don’t I urge CG to share this “ intel” with the other posters here so we can judge for ourselves exactly what we are dealing with when we engage with you.
And unlike Greenes presidential candidacy?
This matter is no joke.
Emmanuel has NO CHANCE
Oh, this was years ago. I have said this before. He shared email information that I did not ask for and would not have even thought of asking for. Pretty unethical.
The main issue is that he long ago promised to set a standard for how commenters were to behave and what would and would not be allowed and then went back on that promise.
Now that the 2025 elections are over, and there is not much in the way of discussion here anyway, maybe it is a good time for everyone to take a break, at least until 2026.
Happy Holidays.
Thanks for the clarification.
Ditto.
Rahm Emanuel is exactly the kind of candidate we don’t need: cf. Hillary Clinton, Andrew Cuomo….
I just can’t see thousands marching in the streets and filling stadia for Rahm Emanuel. I’ve heard Barack Obama speak and Rahm Emanuel doesn’t seem to be a Barack Obama.
CG can give us some real details (rather than my vague, fuzzy impressions) of what his mayoralty of Chicago was like and what it produced.
Since you asked he struggled to win a second term based on opposition on the left and he left office very unpopular for reasons including the belief that he had tried to withhold the video of a police officer killing a 17 year old African-American boy who was walking away from police when shot. His successor Lori Lightfoot would go on to become even more unpopular and her successor Brandon Johnson is even more unpopular than that. So, in many ways, he would be considered a huge success by comparison and what would be to come. He might be the last two term Mayor Chicago has for quite a while.
I do not see him as any sort of viable Presidential candidate or someone likely to ever win an election again anywhere. I imagine that all the powers that be in Chicago (which probably does not include the current Mayor or his top allies) will be behind Pritzker for 2028.
