The Supreme Court requested additional informationWednesday before it rules on whether President Trump can deploy the National Guard in the Chicago area, suggesting a ruling is still weeks away.
The Trump administration appealed to the high courtearlier this month in a bid to resume the deployment after lower courts blocked it.
At the center of the battle is a statute that allows Trump to federalize and deploy a state’s National Guard unit if there is an invasion, rebellion or when he is “unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States.”
Trump asserts the last two preconditions are met, pointing to months of threats and protests against immigration officers. The administration says it has forced officials to move resources into Chicago and away from other regions in response.
Democratic leaders in Illinois and Chicago both oppose the National Guard deployment and filed the lawsuit seeking to halt it.
Wednesday’s brief, unsigned order from the Supreme Court requests the administration and Illinois submit written briefs detailing whether “regular forces” refers to the military and how that should affect the analysis.
Each side is due to submit their views by Nov. 10 and reply to the other a week later.
It suggests the justices won’t rule on Trump’s appeal until then, meaning the Chicago National Guard deployment would continue to remain blocked for weeks…

The National Guard is building a “quick reaction force” (QRF) of some 23,500 troops trained in crowd control and civil disturbance that can be ready to deploy to U.S. cities by early next year, according to a leaked memo reported by multiple outlets Wednesday.
The Oct. 8 memo, signed by National Guard Bureau Director of Operations Maj. Gen. Ronald Burkett, orders the Guard from nearly every U.S. state, Puerto Rico and Guam to train 500 service members. States with smaller populations such as Delaware will have 250 troops in its force, while Alaska will have 350 and Guam will have 100, Task & Purpose reported….

The Trump administration has increasingly moved to use the U.S. military to push his political agenda domestically via sending National Guard troops into largely Democrat-run cities under the claim of helping fight crime.
President Trump in an Aug. 25 executive order mobilized the D.C. National Guard to the nation’s capital over the objections of city leaders. Trump at the time claimed the city’s crime was out of control, despite data showing that rates had dropped over the past two years. In their more than two months in the city, guard members have largely been helping with “beautification” efforts such as picking up trash and laying mulch….

You COULD look at this as Trump asking the Supreme’s to grant him ‘the right’ to use National Guard and Regular Militarty assets in ANYWAY he wants….

And that the Posse Comitatus limiting US Militarty in Law Enforcement should be thrown in the garbage…
