Everybody has been excited about the hostage and POW swaps…..
The American President has loudly proclaimed the ‘War IS Over’…….
This dog has been quietly pointing out that Trump’s ‘Deal’ has some loose ends….
The Biggest?
Hamas….
They ain’t going anywhere they say….
As reported?
They are standing UP their people with arms into the vacuum of governance in Gaza….
And taking out those who they think helped the Israeli’s….
Now we have an American President , who is used to his people dance when he wants it?
Threatening Hamas if they don’t give up their arms?
‘We WILL Disarm them”
Oh?
THAT WAS in the Deal Donald?
Trump says Hamas told him they would stand down?
THAT ain’t what the reports on the ground say….
Is ‘We’ the Israeli’s?
Or?
Is ‘We’ American AND Israeli troops?
(200 US Troops have arrived in Israel as part of the ‘Deal’….)
Please try to be specific Mr. President?
Hamas, which has controlled Gaza for nearly two decades, has not yet publicly agreed to or signed anything that specifies how it will disarm, though Trump suggested Tuesday that he had received verbal assurances the group would.
“Everyone says, ‘Oh, well, they won’t disarm.’ They will disarm,” Trump said Tuesday at a White House event with Argentine President Javier Milei. “And I spoke to Hamas and I said, ‘You’re going to disarm, right?’ ‘Yes, sir, we’re going to disarm.’ That’s what they told me. They will disarm or we will disarm them. Got it?”
Trump declined to provide specifics on how the United States would do that and, when asked about a deadline, said that it would be “a reasonable period of time.”
“I don’t have to explain that to you, but if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them. They know I’m not playing games,” he said.
Later, Trump went on a tangent that suggested he believed Hamas could not yet disarm because the group needed to “take out a couple of gangs that were very bad.”
“We have told them we want [them to] disarm and they will disarm. And if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them. And it’ll happen quickly and perhaps violently, but they will disarm. Do you understand me?” Trump said.
Trump’s warning indicates one of several minefields to navigate as Israel and Hamas move on to the second phase of negotiations over the ceasefire agreement. Hamas returned all 20 surviving hostages Monday, more than two years after they were kidnapped, as part of the ceasefire deal’s first phase.
At various points over the past two years, Hamas has said that it was ready to relinquish political control over Gaza but that giving up its weapons would be a red line. This time, Hamas has publicly agreed to Trump’s 20-point peace plan, two points of which are related to disarmament….
…
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters Friday that his country is “encircling Hamas from all directions” ahead of the plan “in which Hamas will be disarmed and Gaza will be demilitarized.”
“If this is achieved in the easy way, it’s all for the better. And if not, it will be achieved the hard way,” Netanyahu said.
Already, Israeli officials have accused Hamas of breaching the terms of the agreement. The bodies of 28 deceased hostages were also due to be released under the agreement, but Hamas returned four bodies Monday and four Tuesday. The bodies transferred Tuesday have not yet been forensically identified. During negotiations, Hamas had warned that it would not be able to recover all the remains by the 72-hour deadline….
….
Things ARE All o0ver the place in Gaza now which Hamas RUNS Right Now….
- A U.S. official and a source with knowledge said Hamas expressed its willingness to give up its heavy weapons — mainly rockets and missiles — to a Palestinian or Arab entity, but insisted on keeping their guns for self-defense.
- “They’re going to disarm … and if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them,” Trump said. “They know I am not playing games.”
State of play: Hamas’ security forces have reestablished control over the parts of Gaza from which Israeli troops withdrew.
- Hamas’ forces attacked two local Gaza clans, calling them outlaws and criminals. Some members of these clans were also members of militias Israel tried to set up in parts of Gaza as a counterweight to Hamas.
- Hamas also conducted numerous summary executions in the streets of Gaza, according to videos circulating on social media. Hamas officials confirmed the executions of people it claimed had conspired with Israel.
- The Palestinian Authority called on Hamas to immediately stop the executions.
The intrigue: Trump said on Sunday that the U.S. had allowed Hamas forces to redeploy in Gaza in order to maintain law and order.
- On Tuesday, he said Hamas “took out several very bad gangs” in Gaza and stressed he “didn’t mind.”
Note….
Trump’s so called ‘Deal’ Keeps the Gaza Palestinians Still under the control of Hamsa as it HAS been since 2007….
Donald Trump certainly does NOT deserve a Nobel Peace prize for this….
Which may see the Israeli’s resume levelling Gaza in attacking Hamas….
You kept saying for months, “there are still hostages” while criticizing Israel’s military actions. Many people have criticized Israel’s military actions over the past two years, but I think it is clear that doing nothing was not going to get any of the hostages back. They had to fight to get them back, at great cost to many innocent lives.
Now, all the hostages are back home. Can you at least be happy about that, james, without making everything have to be about our U.S. domestic politics? At the minimum? Of course the overall issue is more complex, but the hostages are free, as you and all reasonable people wanted to see, and at least for now, there is a ceasefire in Gaza, which is what the left was so vocal in demanding. Take a win where you can get a win. It does not mean you support Trump. It does not mean that at all, but we have to accept reality.
This is what I posted on Twitter yesterday:
“Donald Trump, as POTUS, definitely deserves some credit for release of remaining living hostages No shame in stating as much. I also point out he has remembered 10/7.
It does not negate all other horrible elements of his time in office or his overall awfulness as a human.”
Donald SURLY deserves credit for getting the remaining hostages back…
He addtionally gets credit for making a UNTURN after Netanyahu’s attack IN Qatar …
Those who have returned to their loved ones….
In Israeli AND in Gaza owes the American President….
As for the OVERALL SITUATION?
Well?
It’s complicated STILL….
A emember of the Knesset was physically remobved because he’s upset with the ‘DEAL’….
He correctly points out that the whole Two years effort to avenge the Oct. 7 attack has actually NOT happened….
60,000 deaths IN Gaza
IDF deaths and causalities…
And?
Hamas IS STILL Flexing across Gaza…
Hamas Gunmen Try to Retake Control
The Economist: “Almost immediately, the ceasefire has brought the first alarming sign of how the broader peace deal might implode. Hamas fighters have emerged, armed and in uniform, to reassert themselves on the streets of Gaza city and Khan Younis.”
“The benign explanation is that, in order to implement the first stage of the ceasefire, Hamas must be in control of parts of the cities so it can carry out the hostage release. But far from signalling magnanimous goodwill, Hamas has started settling scores, with killings and kidnappings of members of local clans which have tried to carve out their own fiefs.”
