The ‘dancin’ IS going on…..
One would expect that there WILL BE a final bill voted and approved….
But we’re just talking about the House Budget Committee….
The WHOLE House is another step and the Senate?
Well?
THAT could be a whole new ball game?
Republicans look like they will have three votes to spare as they set up possible final votes on their megabill — possibly more, depending on attendance.
The House currently has 220 Republicans and 212 Democrats, and Democrats are expected to universally oppose the legislation. If all members vote along party lines, Speaker Mike Johnson can afford to lose three votes.
But if one Democrat is absent, that margin would rise to four.
Four Democrats and one Republican missed the last House vote Tuesday night; three of the five said they would be voting on the megabill when it comes up. Spokespeople for two others — Reps. Donald Norcross (D-N.J.) and Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) — did not respond to requests for comment.
Norcross has not voted since suffering a medical emergency in early April.
Republicans are now working to flip remaining holdouts on President Donald Trump’s domestic agenda bill. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky is considered a hard “no” by GOP leaders. Reps. Chip Roy of Texas and Andy Harris of Maryland are seen as key players in the hard-right faction, though some wild cards could still emerge.
Rep. John Rose of Tennessee, who’s running for governor of the red state, announced his opposition Wednesday evening over the state-and-local tax provisions, a surprise to many who had been closely watching the debate…..
…
House Republican leadership on Wednesday night unveiled last-minute tweaks to President Trump’s tax cut and spending priorities bill, including increasing the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap and speeding up the implementation of new Medicaid work requirements.
The changes, made in legislation called a manager’s amendment, were revealed after late-stage negotiations with blue-state Republicans and hardline conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus who had been withholding support for the legislation.
GOP leaders plan to bring the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” to a floor vote as soon as it clears the House Rules Committee, either late Wednesday night or in the wee hours of Thursday morning….
…
It also speeds up implementation of new Medicaid work requirements to “no later than December 31, 2026,” rather than Jan. 1, 2029 — a change that hardline conservatives were seeking….
Schumer Says Blue State Republicans Caved
“Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is already taunting blue state Republicans over the deal they secured to raise the state and local tax deductions as part of the GOP’s megabill,” Politico reports.
Said Schumer: “This so-called SALT deal is a humiliating failure for NY House Republicans. Donald Trump came to the Capitol to intimidate them and in less than 24 hours they have all bowed to their king. Their capitulation to Trump on SALT is a slap in the face to Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and hardworking, middle-class families across New York.”
Mike Johnson Plans Vote Within Next 24 Hours
“Speaker Mike Johnson returned from a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House this afternoon saying he plans to move ahead with a floor vote on House Republicans’ reconciliation package tonight or Thursday morning,” Punchbowl News reports.
“This is the biggest vote so far of the 119th Congress – and Trump’s second term – with enormous stakes for GOP control of the House.”
After Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) passed away, Johnson will likely need 217 votes to pass this bill, assuming full attendance. He could lose only three GOP votes.
So after all that big talk from these Republican pygmies, Big Bad Don cracks the whip and they cave.
Gee, what a surprise!
My favorite pieces of garbage ,the House Authoritarian Caucus claimed they would need “ weeks” to study those load of crap..Wow, They lied! Can you believe it?
Then there’s that loudmouth Texas blowhard Chip Roy always spouting off that Righr Wing garbage about deficits etc.Republicans couldn’t care less about the deficit.Only a blazing idiot could believe that they do.
As requires constant reiteration here due to our moderators plaintive efforts to convince us that these so called “ moderates” are going to “ break” with him?
Donald Trump owns the Republican Party .
End of story.
Two did NOT JOIN the party on the BBB…,
We’ll see how things go in the Senate
Oh wow!
Two!
My God!
Trump might as well give up!
Six and counting!
Like I’m saying….
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has begun meeting privately with Senate Republicans who are threatening to derail President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” over what they fear could be substantial cuts to Medicaid.,…
The Hill…
More…..
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has told Senate GOP leadership that he is a hard no on the bill the House passed early Thursday morning to enact President Trump’s legislative agenda because the legislation includes language to raise the debt limit by $4 trillion over the next two years.…
The Hill…
Post coming later on the Senate rewrite
Why?
It’s over according to you.
If six Republicans are going to vote against it?
