Hakeem Jeffries?
You know the Democratic House leader from New York that kinda IS Stealthy…..
Allies have urged him to start putting himself out there now, seeing the 54-year-old as a fresher alternative to Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-New York).
“They want to see a leader, and that’s what he’s doing,” said Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Michigan), who chairs the House Democrats’ messaging arm, the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee. “I think he understands what people are looking for and he’s trying to meet the times.”
Jeffries has significantly ramped up his public outreach since Donald Trump became president again, engaging with over 20 nontraditional outlets, including liberal podcasts, speaking with social media influencers and posting short videos on his personal feed….
…
House Democrats still want to see more. Many lawmakers applaud Jeffries’s new tone but also want to see a policy agenda they can campaign on. Some worry that their messaging remains too broad and policy positions largely unchanged. Jeffries pledged last week that House Democrats will propose a “blueprint for a better America” in the next 100 days.
“It’s almost as if he is responding to a much more aggressive caucus that wants to be seen and heard,” said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist who has long advised Jeffries. “They’re pressuring the House leadership to be more vocal, more visible as part of the opposition, but also to have plans, ideas, strategies, so that people know that everybody’s working from the same hymn sheet.”….
…
Pelosi, who often counsels Jeffries as he navigates her former leadership position, said House Democrats should not compare her leadership to the current moment because the time and the “technology of communication” is different.
Jeffries, she said, is “a man with a plan.”
“We are all seeing the world really starting to pay attention to what’s happening here. It’s important that people know him, especially when he’s the next speaker of the House,” said Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Florida), who is helping the party’s leadership with message strategy and visibility. “He’s one of the most important faces of the opposition.”…
