Republican President Trump says he will NOT MAKE THOSE Cuts….
House Republicans HAVE a HUGE Problem….
Cause?
Those programs and the Defense Budget ARE where the money IS…..
Such cuts would surely NOT make Trump Happy and make Democrats in line to regain a House Majority again, which would screw Trump ROYALLY….
Will House Republican leader Johnson need Democrats (Giving them Consessions?) to get past his own parties RightWingNuts?
In one way, Tuesday night was a major victory for House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). He was able to force through his budget resolution despite the reservations of many of his members, losing only one GOP vote and passing the bill by an extremely tight majority, 217-215.
As the vote was succeeding, scores of Democrats chanted, “You’re gonna be sorry!” Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Michigan) declared: “We just won back the House.”
The reason was because while the bill doesn’t explicitly call for Medicaid cuts it clearly lays the groundwork for that. And while Republicans have tried to massage that fact and argued this is merely the first step in a long process, targeting the entitlement program that provides health insurance to tens of millions of low-income Americans would seem unavoidable.
Scores of data — and plenty of history — reinforce how politically dicey that could be. Americans hate entitlement cuts, and Republicans would seem to be in the process of handing Democrats a potent political weapon on that front….

Given that Trump and others have said Medicare cuts are off the table, that places the focus squarely on Medicaid. And while GOP leaders are trying to spin this in a favorable way — they’ve cast it as just a starting point and claimed that any cuts would be about waste and not benefits— they’ve also made clear Medicaid is in the crosshairs…
…
And all the available polling suggests that could be a gift to Democrats. While Americans appear open to the idea that there is waste and fraud in Medicaid, they have strongly rejected the idea of cuts. And in the past they’ve also strongly objected to the concept of using Medicaid cuts to pay for tax cuts….

A 2020 KFF poll asked people whether they supported Medicaid cuts to make up for covid-related shortfalls in state budgets. Americans opposed that 74 percent to 24 percent. Only cutting K-12 education had less support.
Similarly, a 2017 Harvard-Harris poll asked people whether they would accept cutting Medicaid enrollment to pre-Obamacare levels to “reduce government spending and taxes.” Americans also rejected that by 50 points, 72-22.
