Here we go AGAIN….
Like a broken skipping record?
The President of the United States is flexing on the countries Northern and Southern Border countries…
This is NOT about ANYTHING except Trump trying to get cheaper prices from our ‘neighbour’s….
Seeing Columbia back down….
Trump, the busted businessman, think’s he can muscle Canada and Mexico…
And he’s looking to recover from losing BIG TIME in the cut in spending move….
I REALLY do NOT think this is gonna change much….
25% import taxes on their good would INCREASE costs to America and disrupt good that America counts on…
Americans do NOT act kindly to increased consumer prices….
And yes , Canada and Mexico could suffer also….
(He says we can do without those countries products….He’s wrong…WAIT)
We’ll see how this twists in the wind over the next few days…..
This maybe a precursor of more Trump Up and Down ‘s as he reinforces how much of a LOUSY Businessman he was back in the day…
“I’ll be putting the tariff of 25 percent on Canada and Mexico, and we will really have to do that because we have very big deficits with those countries,” he said. “Those tariffs may or may not rise with time.”
Trump added that he would decide Thursday night whether to include oil among the items subject to tariffs.
“We may or may not. We’re going to make that determination, probably tonight, on oil. Because they send us oil, we’ll see. It depends on what the price is. If the oil is properly priced, if they treat us properly, which they don’t,” Trump said.
“Look, Mexico and Canada have never been good to us on trade,” he continued. “They’ve treated us very unfairly on trade, and we will be able to make that up very quickly because we don’t need the products that they have.”
…
Mexico and Canada are two of the top trading partners with the United States, and experts have warned that tariffs could lead to increased prices for American consumers for certain goods….
Note…
There ARE a LOT of American companies doing business in those two companies…
There ARE a LOT of US companies CONNECTED to those companies that employ America workers…..

Trump already negotiated and signed a replacement for NAFTA during his first term, so these tariffs should not (if ever) come into effect until his replacement agreement expires.
But these agreements, and the cross-border systems they’ve created, have been in place so long that any tariff war could (like Brexit) only bring (on balance) grief. Lordstown might or might not revive; I can’t see how this would (on balance) benefit Detroit or Dearborn (let alone Oshawa, Ontario, or Juárez, Mexico).

I read up on the tariff process….
Congress has deferred on Tariff authority to the executive branch , BUT?
Congress does have the final word….
Tariff are like treaties between two countries….
Like everything else…
He’s pushing the limits…
I still see this as simply a HIGH stakes negotiating move that COULD backfire STRONGLY on him and the people of ALL Three countries..
History of his track record is NOT good….
SIX Bankrupcies and TONS of civil suits…..
