“MSNBC saw a 61% ratings boost after Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th president,” The Wrap reports.
“The ratings growth marks a promising ratings rebound for the left-leaning cable news network, which saw its primetime cut in half after Trump’s victory in November.”
Semafor: “Some news organizations and news media outlets are starting to see a bump in traffic, subscriptions, and viewership in the wake of the inauguration, a sign that opponents of Trump are starting to tune back into the news en masse.”
Washington Post: Rachel Maddow is bringing viewers back to MSNBC — and giving them hope.

“Democrats should’ve had a very bad Tuesday,” Punchbowl News reports.
“Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) stunned Capitol Hill by announcing he wouldn’t run for reelection in 2026, putting an open Senate seat in play in a key swing state. The party has no clear leader with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris gone (The DNC is picking a new chair this weekend). And Democratic congressional leaders were getting an earful from rank-and-file lawmakers who complained they had no clear strategy to counter President Donald Trump and GOP leaders on immigration and Israel.”
“But for the first time in weeks, Democrats were able to go on offense — thanks to Trump.”
…
Associated Press: “Trump insists his overall agenda will help working- and middle-class Americans — notably his executive orders intended to goose domestic energy production and, he reasons, lower consumer costs.”
“Days into his return to power, however, reactions from some voters highlight how difficult it could be for Trump to maintain his populist appeal alongside his embrace of fellow billionaires as well as tariffs and other policies that could stoke the very inflation he criticized as a candidate.”
…
“Trump doesn’t give two fucks. This is what you’re seeing. He doesn’t care. He didn’t care what they think about what the media think. They were going to put him in prison. He knows this.”
— Steve Bannon, in an interview with Megyn Kelly.
