Avichay Adraee, the Israel Defense Forces’ Arabic-language spokesman, issued new evacuation notices for the capital’s southern suburbs, warning that Israeli forces intended to strike buildings in the area that he said were being used by Hezbollah.
Lebanese civil defense said its center in Baalbek, northeast of Beirut, was completely destroyed in an attack while a number of its personnel were still inside waiting to be dispatched to help civilians. Search and rescue operations were ongoing, a civil defense spokesperson said. Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said 12 people were killed in what it called a “barbaric attack on a health center affiliated with the Lebanese state.”
In the southern Gaza Strip, Doctors Without Borders said an airstrike in Mawasi, an area that Israel has designated a humanitarian zone, caused a “huge” explosion that destroyed equipment at one of its evacuated clinics. A Palestinian Civil Defense spokesperson said the strike hit tents sheltering displaced people, injuring at least seven.
In a statement, the IDF said it issued advance warnings ahead of the strike and that its air force “struck and dismantled a loaded launcherlocated in the humanitarian area” that was aimed toward Israel.

- Syrian state media reported that Israeli airstrikes killed at least 15 people in Damascus and the Rif Dimashq governorate in Syria. Reports of the strikes emerged as Ali Larijani, a top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, was on an official visit to the Syrian capital, according to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency. The official Syrian Arab News Agency reported Thursday that Larijani met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, though it did not specify the timing of the meeting.
- President-elect Donald Trump and President Joe Biden discussed American hostages held in Gaza in a meeting Wednesday in the Oval Office, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said. “We’ve sent a signal to the incoming team that we’re prepared to work with them on this issue,” he added.
- Some4,000 members of law enforcement will be deployed to prepare for a soccer match between Israel and France in Paris on Thursday night, the city’s police chief, Laurent Nuñez, toldFrench radio. Violence broke out last week after a soccer matchbetween Israeli and Dutch teams in Amsterdam.
- At least 43,736 people have been killed in Gaza during the war and 103,370 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. At least 3,386 people have been killed and 14,417 injured in Lebanon, the country’s Health Ministry said. Neither agency distinguishes between civilians and combatants.
- Israel estimates that about 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack, including more than 300 soldiers. It says 373 soldiers have been killed in its military operation in Gaza….

Israeli forces have likely disrupted Lebanese Hezbollah’s ability to fire into Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the daily rate of Hezbollah attacks has declined on average over the “past few weeks” and has decreased by half in the past week.
