Vice President Harris and former President Trump will face off for their first presidential debate on Tuesday.
Why it matters: It could be America’s only opportunity to watch a one-on-one debate between Harris and Trump. No other dates have been announced.
The big picture: ABC News is hosting the broadcast, which is the second general election debate of the cycle and Harris’ first as the Democratic party’s nominee.
- The first presidential debate in late June was a turning point in the election and led to President Biden withdrawing from the race.
What time does the Harris-Trump debate start?
State of play: The debate starts at 9pm ET Tuesday, Sept. 10.
- It will be held in Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center but won’t have a live audience.
- It’s the second time in the last 50 years that a presidential debate has been held in Pennsylvania.
Who is moderating the ABC presidential debate?
The presidential debate will be moderated by “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis.
How long is the presidential debate?
The debate is 90 minutes and includes two commercial breaks, ABC said.

Tonight is pretty much all about Kamala Harris. Undecided voters dislike Donald Trump and have made up their mind on him. About half of undecideds, on the other hand, want to learn more about Harris.
Can Harris seize the opportunity with these folks tonight?

“Donald Trump’s campaign is most concerned going into the debate against Kamala Harris with the former president’s mood, afraid that the mercurial Trump could engage in the kind of self-sabotage that turned off voters in the 2020 presidential election, according to people familiar with the situation,” The Guardian reports.
“The campaign’s internal refrain is whether they get ‘happy Trump’ or ‘angry Trump,’ the people said, as they count down the days to perhaps the final presidential debate this cycle.”
Has anyone ever seen “happy Trump”? I’m not sure we’ve ever heard him laugh.

After the last one, at least one person here wanted Joe Biden to be the one on the debate stage against Trump again tonight.
Trump is getting thoroughly cooked and roasted on this debate stage. The country is so divided, it may not wind up making too much of a difference.
Substantively, Harris was far from perfect, and looked too nervous on her first answer, but she went out there to emasculate him and accomplished that. She was the Alpha on stage and he felt it all night. MAGA is in shambles.

By tomorrow morning, Trump will be re-posting social media claims that Kamala Harris had a secret earpiece during the debate that was feeding her lines.
MAGA continues to emulate the 2004 Kerry/Edwards campaign partisans, who back then claimed GWB had some sort of secret listening device during a debate (which must not have helped since he was not good in that debate.) The next thing will be during the VP debate where JD Vance will keep bringing up the fact that Dick Cheney has a lesb.ian daughter.
