The media editor’s have been floating questions about how Kamala Harris should be doing pressers explaining policy….
Really?
Harris is riding a wave of emotions from her party types and those who are NOT happy with the ex-President that wants his last job back…
Policy is NOT what had the crowd’s screaming last night….
EMOTION WAS and IS…..
Tom Nichols: “One of the great myths of American politics is that detailed policy positions are crucial to winning elections. Yes, policy matters in broad strokes: Candidates take general positions on issues such as taxes, abortion, and foreign policy. Rather than study white papers or ponder reports from think tanks, however, most voters count on parties and candidates to signal broad directions and then work out the details later.”
“In the 2024 election, policy details matter even less than they usually do. Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, seem to have figured this out. Harris has been blasted by Republicans for avoiding the press, and some journalists have griped that she hasn’t sat down for a long interview and didn’t make a major policy speech before this past Friday. But Harris and Walz seem to be making a strategic choice—and for now, a good one.”
“Policy proposals are supposed to differentiate the candidates, but drawing policy distinctions with Trump is hard when he presents almost nothing beyond ‘I will fix it.’”

Incredibly honest admission that the Democrats’ policies are just not popular with a broad swath of America.
What they have going for them is that Donald Trump is a complete and total jerk of the first class, and that Kamala is under 80 and seems fun.
This strategy is a huge risk but I hope it works out and when 2025 comes around and it is time for our government to govern, we can have real debates about the future of America.

They’ll take the ‘Donald Trump is a complete and total jerk of the first class, and that Kamala is under 80 and seems fun.’…..

So what policies do you think are currently popular with a broad swath of America?
CG says
Neither party is really advocating any because the bases of both do not believe in compromise or even working together. There are probably a lot of things that a majority of Americans could go agree on policy wise but our current system works against making that possible, at least at the federal level.
The concession seems to be though that if Democrats win this year, it will be about “vibes” more so than policy and that the “vibes” should be pushed over policy. So, that might work, but then what happens when election season is over? When Donald Trump is defeated? It is not going to be enough to just be against something. People are going to expect action. Winning on vibes is far from a mandate to suddenly try to implement an agenda that never really got talked about during the campaign. That is a big part of the reason the Biden Administration ran afoul of public opinion and has never recovered.

Your right
People vote on emotions…..
On identity……
U and i know u bring in your flank’s then move to the middle something Harris & Co ate working hard to deny Trump who seems to be helping despite his handlers….
I don’t agree about Biden policy
Most of his efforts were popular
The guy just didn’t fucking sell a damn thing
Trump sells out sneakers and $200 watches with his picture on it….
Harris sells her youth, good looks, and NOT being the old white guy this time

Pro choice is popular policy.
A stronger social safety net is popular policy.
Stronger worker protection is popular policy.
Raising taxes on the wealthy is popular policy.
