The Harris interview thing is weird.
I don’t think a particularly big deal. But if she inherited the Very Online Biden staffers who were mediaphobic and thought the NYT was out to get them etc (when the actual problem was that he was in fact way too old) that’s not a great sign
ABC says no hot mics and no audience.
The latter isn’t good for Trump.He thrives off of an audience .
I am not as sure. I think any sort of a hostile audience rattles him just as much and causes him to act more outlandishly. The lack of an audience in the debate with Biden worked to his advantage.
As for the mics, the Harris campaign should be fine with either scenario. For the sake of any sort of the best possible exchange of ideas, the mics being turned off is a good thing, which is why the Democrats wanted it in the first place. They should stick with that standard. If Trump tries to interrupt or talk over anyone, the cameras will still capture that.
Harris & Co. would get a small ‘L’ for lossing the mic issue….

Biden said that just because Trump’s mike was turned off, that didn’t stop him from shouting at Biden during Biden’s responses. They were too close together, although it might look weird if you kept them 15 feet apart.

I think it is pretty clear Biden was lying about that when trying to desperately spin his performance and save his campaign. The cameras were on both of them in the split screen at all times and nothing like that was seen on either side.
Trump COULD HAVE been screaming thinking Biden couldn’t hear him
But he didn’t, even though Biden said he did.
If he had, we would have seen it on the coverage and Jake Tapper and Dana Bash would have known also. Biden mentioned this weeks after in an interview when he was in desperation mode and he shouldn’t have said it.
I’m not calling Biden a LIAR on this…
