- First joint rally: Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are holding their first joint rally in Philadelphia before going on a tour of battleground states this week. Harris announced this morning that she had selected Walz as her vice presidential pick, elevating the former teacher, congressman and Army National Guard veteran to join the Democratic ticket and help lead the party’s fight to defeat Donald Trump.
- JD Vance hits the campaign trail: Trump’s running mate is bracketing the launch of the Democratic ticket with a series of events in the same cities and states as his opponents. Vance campaigned in Philadelphia hours before Harris and Walz were set to hold their first rally. He said Harris picking Walz “highlights how radical” she is.
- GOP bashes Harris’ pick: Republicans rushed to try to define Walz, as the Trump campaign slammed the governor’s record and began fundraising off the selection.
- Historic nominee: Today’s VP announcement comes a day after Harris won the Democratic presidential nomination, making her the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead a major-party ticket. …..

Vice President Harris on Wednesday was interrupted at a campaign rally by individuals protesting the war in Gaza for the first time since she launched her presidential campaign.
Demonstrators in the crowd at Harris’s Detroit rally repeatedly shouted out as the vice president spoke to an airplane hangar packed with supporters, “Kamala, Kamala you can’t Hide, we won’t vote for genocide.” The crowd booed and drowned out the protesters with chants of “Kamala.”….
