The conflict continues……
■ The Israeli army announced that Sgt. Maj. (res) Danil Pechenyuk, 26-years-old from Bat Yam, Sgt. Maj. (res) Nitai Metodi, 23-years-old from Ashkelon, and Com. Sgt. Maj. (res) Yaniv Itzhak Oren, 35-year-old from Ein Gedi, were killed in combat in central Gaza.
■ At least 40,334 Palestinians have been killed and 93,356 wounded in Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip since October 7, the Gaza health ministry said in a statement on Saturday, adding that 69 people were killed and 212 wounded in the past 24 hours.
■ An Israeli delegation led by Mossad chief David Barnea will leave for Cairo on Sunday to continue negotiations for a cease-fire deal that would release the hostages held in Gaza.
■ Air Force General C.Q. Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, began an unannounced visit to the Middle East. He began his trip in Jordan and said he will also travel to Egypt and Israel in the coming days to hear the perspectives of military leaders.
■ A Palestinian woman was lightly wounded in an attack by Jewish settlers in a West Bank village, near Hebron. According to a resident of the village, eight settlers wearing face coverings entered the village, went into houses and beat the woman with a club.
■ Northern Israel’s Kiryat Shmona city hall called on residents to stay near shelters and avoid unnecessary walks until further notice.
■ Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is expected to attend Gaza cease-fire talks in Cairo on Saturday, a source familiar with the negotiations told Reuters…..
- Medical sources have told Al Jazeera Arabic that at least 71 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli raids across Gaza.
- Israel’s latest evacuation orders for Deir el-Balah have pushed more than 100,000 people out in less than two days, according to the local municipality.
- A Hamas delegation, headed by senior official Khalil al-Hayya, has arrived in Cairo as Gaza ceasefire talks resume.
- A woman and a young girl are among those killed in Israel’s latest attack on the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
- Israeli settlers raided the occupied West Bank village of Sarra, near Nablus, and attacked several Palestinians. They also burned “dozens” of trees, according to the Wafa news agency…..
