The Reality IS that a cease-fire is something BOTH parties seem to be UNABLE to come to….
Again?
The HATE is just TOO Deep….
There is NO Trust…..
There ARE still hostages and POW’s….
The Biden administration is again putting its diplomatic heft behind an effort to dislodge the logjam in negotiations between Israel and Hamas over a cease-fire to end the 10-month-long war in Gaza, and American officials have voiced optimism over the potential for a breakthrough.
Israeli and Hamas officials are striking a different tone. Both sides have poured cold water on the idea that a deal could be imminent, saying that mediators’ efforts — and the latest American proposal aimed at bridging gaps between the two sides — have failed to resolve some of the most substantive disputes in the talks.
On Monday, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, making his ninth visit to Israel since the war began, emerged from a three-hour-long meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and announced that the Israeli leader had assented to the new U.S. proposal intended to bridge the differences between the two sides, introduced at talks in Qatar last week.
But Israeli and Hamas officials familiar with the talks said the U.S. plan left major disagreements mostly unresolved. Hamas quickly dismissed the American-led framework as conforming to Mr. Netanyahu’s conditions, which he has stiffened in recent weeks.
On Tuesday, as Mr. Blinken traveled to Egypt and Qatar to continue pushing for an agreement, Hamas issued a statement criticizing the latest American proposal as “a reversal” of what Hamas had agreed to in early July and that U.S. officials had called a breakthrough….
…
Under the new U.S. proposal, Israeli troops would be able to continue to patrol part of the Gazan border with Egypt, albeit in reduced numbers — one of Mr. Netanyahu’s core demands, according to four officials familiar with the talks, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
That is likely a non-starter for Hamas, which has consistently called for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Egypt has also voiced staunch objections to a long-term Israeli presence in that area, known as the Philadelphi Corridor.
Cairo has maintained that it will not accept Israeli troops remaining in the Philadelphi Corridor, which Egyptian officials say would pose national security concerns and would likely anger the Egyptian public.

Israel’s military struck a school building in Gaza City on Tuesday, targeting what it said was a Hamas command and control center. The Palestinian Civil Defense emergency services said that 12 people, including women and children, had been killed in the attack, which hit the Mustafa Hafez school. The Israeli military did not say whether the strike had caused casualties. In recent weeks, Israel has launched dozens of strikes at school buildings, which are being used as shelters by tens of thousands of displaced in Gaza, drawing sharp criticism from the United Nations and others. The Israeli military says that Hamas has “cynically exploited” schools, hospitals and shelters as bases and civilians as human shields.

The Gazan Health Ministry said Tuesday that it was still waiting to receive polio vaccines as the risk of an outbreak grows in the territory. After Gaza recorded its first polio case in years,..
Israeli forces recovered the bodies of six Israeli hostages from southern Gaza in an overnight operation, the Israeli military said on Tuesday, highlighting the plight of the scores of captives remaining in the Palestinian enclave. Five of the six were previously known to have lost their lives.
Of the roughly 250 people Israeli authorities say were taken hostage during the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack, Israeli forces have so far rescued only seven hostages alive. Scores of others, mostly women and children, were returned to Israel during a weeklong cease-fire last November. More than 100 captives still remain in Gaza, at least 30 of whom are believed to be dead….

The United States, Israel, and international mediators plan to continue ceasefire talks despite Hamas’ rejection of the latest ceasefire-hostage proposal…. An anonymous US official said that the Biden administration still expects a resumption of talks from the key negotiating partners later this week. Hamas [ ] rejected the ceasefire-hostage proposal produced in the most recent round of talks in Doha and continues to support the July 2024 ceasefire-hostage proposal.
CG says
Israel agreed to the “Biden Plan.” That is a fact. Hamas of course did not. There are no “two Hamases.” There is no “moderate Hamas.” The political wing and the military wing are the same thing. They are Hamas and they are terrorists.
Israel just recovered the bodies of six hostages in Gaza. If Israel were not still fighting in Gaza, those families would never receive that closure. It seems very unlikely that Hamas had very many alive hostages left to return. Any claim, such as the ones here, that Israel is also holding “hostages” or has “POWs” that can be fairly swapped is beyond ignorant.

Hamas is NOT gonna give up it’s prime goal to have Gaza for its own….
And Yes….
They will keep fighting Isreal and whoever to achieve that….
Whoever include’s their fellow Palestinians
Both parties ARE at Fault….
CG says
Just like the January 6 Insurrectionists and those who wanted to certify the actual results at the election were both at fault.
CG says
The “prime goal” of Hamas is far more than having Gaza for their own. They want Israel for their own. They want NO Israel. They want every Jew dead. They say openly. They do not hide it. It’s part of their Project 2025.
Ideally, there could be a two-state solution, and one day, hopefully, that can come about, but thee is only one side totally opposed to the concept and that is Hamas.
Now, here in America, on the streets of Chicago, people advocate for the end of Israel and for a free Palestine “from the River to the Sea” at the same time these very same protestors also demand for “reproductive rights” and LGBTQ rights.
What irony from anybody who wishes to have a “two state solution” today that includes Hamas or especially those who want there to only be one Palestine and no Israel.
The Jewish State of Israel has very liberal abortion laws and full civil rights for gays and lesbians. If Israel goes away, as these protestors wish, there will be not be a single abortion ever permitted from the River to the Sea and being gay or lesbian will bring about a sentence of execution, under the laws Hamas would implement.
How do these protestors reconcile that?
jamesb says
I do NOT accept the concept that they want ALL Jews Dead……
I Do accept that ‘they’ who HAD the state of Palestine have had the British and others partition their land into a divide….
History is full of fighting for territory….
Those fights ARE more than often Brutal and Bloody…….
Several are going on around the planet now…….
And?
It appears that no other country wants the inhabitants of Gaza , something Israel would like to export….
CG says
It is in their Charter. All Jews, everywhere, dead… In writing.
You think they don’t really mean it. What an amazing mind you have.
jamesb says
Writing ain’t shit
Palestinians WORKED IN Israel
They married Jews
They are Israeli Arabs
CG?
People on BOTH SIDES ain’t happy
But the anger IS TOO DEEP
This while hostage’s die in capand POW’s get abused
‘War IS HEll’
These guys on both sides keep at ot regardless
CG says
What are you talking about? How uninformed and ignorant can one person be?
It is a fact that Hamas has said that their goal is the death of every Jew on Earth. Nobody disputes that is what they say. People either support it or they don’t. It should not be a difficult choice.
There are no “POWs.” Hamas kidnapped civilians on 10/7, in addition to the thousands of murders of men, women, children, and babies. This was not a “battle.” Israel has not kidnapped any Palestinian citizens to hold them hostage. You seem to think they have. Why you think that i will never know. There are no “prisoners of war” being held by any definition of the term.
Yes, Arabs and Muslims have rights in Israel and are part of Israeli society. Far more than they have under Hamas. What this has to do with anything, I do not know.
You are just a spiteful, stubborn, uninformed person who seems to take comfort in your spite, stubbornness, and ignorance.
jamesb says
The point is CG?
U have made BROAD statement’s about Hanas that are not completely true….
I will continue to bring out the complexities of the situation in Gaza….
And the Middle East
Know ur history
Conflict’s are seldom as you and everyone presents
If they were?
They would be solved with less blood
CG says
Everything I have said is completely true. You just choose not to believe it because you, like Donald Trump, have psychopathic tendencies when it comes to the truth.
Again, the Hamas charter calls for the complete annihilation of Israel and for the death of every Jew on Earth. You can look it up.
jamesb says
Violence from either side is NOT something I condone…
But it IS something that ends up happening…..
CG says
You call self-defense violence and equate it with murder, rape, and kidnapping. You condemn military action against Hamas leaders when they are hiding behind civilians who become casualties, but when Israel then conducts a completely surgical strike against Hamas leaders that harms not one civilian, you condemn that for that also.
You are who you are.
My Name Is Jack says
James does not “ accept “ lots of things.
As I’ve commented before ,when facts collide with his emotional reactions ,the emotional always wins out.He repeats it over and over and it becomes his reality even though the facts are otherwise.
Hamas is a terrorist organization whose goal is to destroy Israel. That is a simple irrefutable fact. That , at various times, they might provide medical care, food or whatever to Gaza residents doesn’t change that fact.
It’s like the Ku Klux Klan used to put on parties for kids ( White only).Such didn’t change the fact that they murdered people as part of their racist doctrine.
jamesb says
Yo Jack?
People ain’t just One Thing……
Remember……
My Name Is Jack says
Inane but unsurprising.

i can hardly wait for the speaker at the convention tonight to take to the podium, hold up the big copy of Project 2025 that they are using as a prop and say, “writing ain’t shit.”
jamesb says
He, he, he
True That for Trump, who says it has nothing to do with him…….
CG?
What the Mission Statement from each party?
Anyone remember them ten minutes after the convention?
What about Trump and the Constitution?
Writing, eh?
jamesb says
‘With Liberty and Justice for All’????
CG says
The difference between Hamas and Trump is that Hamas actually stands behind their platform, and have acted on its words.
jamesb says
So has Trump who tries to bull shit his way out it….
jamesb says
My statement’s are also about the reality of the conflict…..
And u and others have no regard for the history of the conflict
CG says
The history of the conflict is that one side says that everyone who belongs to a certain religion must be killed and that they are all willing to die themselves in order to kill everyone in the other religion.
The side in the conflict who says that has never been Israel.
That is the first piece of history that needs to be known because it is the most important to understanding the “conflict.”
I mean how dare a group of people not submit to being killed? If they give in and surrender, there would be no “conflict.”
jamesb says
Yet Arab’s and Jews live and work side by side through out the Middle East and the world…..
You example is naive and has no basis except for radicalism…..
CG says
Yes, I have had Arab co-workers and friends myself.
What in the world does that possibly have to do with Hamas? You might be the only person on Earth, who denies, that Hamas has said they intend to see the death of every Jew on Earth. They certainly do not deny they say it.
This is clearly a medical issue with you. It is not fair for me or for you to have this discussion further. I feel for your family.
jamesb says
Excuse Me?
I HAVE stated here quite clearly that the actions of Oct. 7 were NOT the way to achieve ANY GOALS…..
I HAVE ALSO pointed out that Hamas DELIBERATELY hiding in hospital”s and schools AND taking out those in Gaza who oppose their power IS NOT SOMETHING I THINK IS REMOTELY RIGHT……
I have ALSO said here taking out 50 people to get one Hamas fighter is no MORE RIGHT either….
jamesb says
BOTH sides ARE WRONG in their blood letting….
THAT I STAND BY
CG says
If “writing ain’t shit”, you ought to let the Texan post on here.
