Of course this is fronted in the Right Leaning The Hill….
Shapiro IS Jewish…….
And he has had some dust ups within his state….
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) is facing growing pushback from progressives even as his stock rises in the Harris veepstakes conversation.
They are sounding the alarm on his past position on school vouchers and say that his stance on the Israel-Hamas war could highlight a divide in the Democratic Party that could impact the November election if Vice President Harris chooses him as her running mate.
Democrats who back Shapiro point to his popularity, record of winning statewide, and the overall electoral importance of Pennsylvania, which has 19 electoral votes and is part of the so-called Blue Wall considered crucial to Democrats.
But that hasn’t stopped progressives from amplifying their criticism of the governor this week.
One letter signed by nearly 50 progressive leaders pointed to Shapiro’s “shortcomings as a national candidate” and urged the vice president to consider Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) instead.
“With the compressed timeline ahead of us to defeat the Trump-Vance-MAGA threat, we simply cannot afford any setbacks,” the letter said.
A letter from another progressive group, known as “VP Unity,” said Harris’s consideration of Shapiro has “set off alarm bells” among young voters, Muslims, Arab Americans and activists.
Some progressive critics of Shapiro say that his response to the pro-Palestine protests in Pennsylvania, which they labeled as “heavy handed,” could impact a Harris-Shapiro ticket more negatively than his views on the Israel-Hamas war more generally…..
…
Other Democrats are accusing progressives of dividing the Democratic coalition, taking particular issue with Shapiro, who is Jewish, receiving the brunt of the criticism over Israel.
They say Shapiro is highly progressive on myriad other items and that any concerns wouldn’t stop Democrats from voting for Harris over former President Trump.
“[Pennsylvania voters] like the fact that he’s extremely competent. He gets things done and gets them done the right way,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) said in an interview. “They believe that he is someone who would understand his role as vice president and be tremendously supportive to the president.”…

I’m about winning this election and keeping Trump out of the White House .
Hopefully Harris will make her decision as to a VP candidate as to who would best help to accomplish that goal rather than some ideological purity test.
Further I’m unaware of what stance, if any, Walz or Beshear have taken as to the Middle East situation.

I agree with Ya Jack….
The object IS to keep Trump from ever getting back to fucking up things AGAIN….

There is no difference at all between Walz, Beshear, Kelly, or Shapiro in regards to anything they have said regarding Israel or Gaza. It is pretty obvious why the people so opposed to Shapiro are opposed to him.
Kelly’s wife is Jewish. That would wind up being a problem for them too, once they figure that out.
I happen to think if she picks Shapiro and the left-wing anti-Semites go crazy about it, it helps her and her ticket look more “moderate” to swing voters.

How much good did Tim Kaine really do for Hillary Clinton?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
… or how much did Jack Kemp (admirable in his own way) do for Bob Dole in 1996?
… or Bob Dole for Gerald Ford in 1976?
… or Paul Ryan for Mitt Romney?
… let alone Sarah Palin for John McCain!
… or Geraldine Ferraro for Walter Mondale?
… or Bill Miller for Barry Goldwater?
Apart from balancing the ticket (important to Trump in 2016 and maybe LBJ in 1964), presidential candidates are probably most inclined to pick a running-mate with compatible views who will carry out a similar programme with similar success should the presidential ticket win and the president have to step aside.

He, he, he…..

I’d be very happy with Shapiro as VP even though my personal favorite is Tim Walz.
