Updated information on the shooting which left Donald Trump bloodied and one dead….
And probably has Trump a bit shaken up……
- The suspected shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue,” per Guglielmi. The incident is under investigation and the Secret Service has notified the FBI, he added.
- Trump had blood on his face after he was brought to his feet by Secret Service agents. The crowd at the rally was quickly evacuated.
- Trump pumped his fist as he was leaving the stage, drawing cheers from the crowd.
- State of play: The “Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former president is safe,” Guglielmi said earlier Saturday.
- Trump senior advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in a statement that Trump is still planning to attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which begins on Monday.
President Biden condemned the attack as “sick” in remarks on Saturday evening.
- “I have tried to get a hold of [Trump], he is with his doctors. Apparently he is doing well. I plan on talking to him shortly, I hope,” Biden said.
- “Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety,” Biden said in a statement. “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
- The Biden campaign is also pausing all outbound communications and working to pull down television ads as quickly as possible, per a campaign official.
- Former Presidents Obama and Clinton, as well as scores of elected officials from both parties, also condemned the shooting…..

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, single, is a 20 year old Registered Republican. There are poorly researched news reports that he gave money to Act Blue before becoming a Republican. It appears that is a different person, Thomas Crooks, 69, married, has a Youtube channel, and politically active. Both from the same area.
Perhaps he was a disappointed Haley supporter.
He got that close and Trump had secret service protection, and they expect teachers to protect their students! This should start a conversation about gun safety, but it won’t.
It also won’t change anyone’s mind about who they will be voting for in November.
