- But outside of Biden’s bubble, the calls for Biden to bow out grew louder, with Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) saying: “I think the President should end his campaign.”
Driving the news: The president and his inner circle are on a collision course with the party he leads.
- “It feels stuck at the moment,” said a senior Democratic elected official. “That’s not to say it isn’t going to stay stuck.”
Senior Democratic officials are urging Biden to make a decision on his future this weekend, with many of them peppering Biden’s most trusted advisers with arguments for why he should bow out for the good of the party….

For once he wasn’t lying: Trump’s campaign is raking in enormous checks from crypto billionaires, Big Oil executives, and now even Elon Musk himself — the richest person in the world.

Yes, it will probably be a white male. That does not mean that Democrats are anxious to jettison Harris at the top of the ticket for a white male.
I just realized that in addition to having directed Hillbilly Elegy, the biopic of a young JD Vance (never saw it), Ron Howard also directed the movie Cocoon, the 1980s film about senior citizens jumping in a magical alien pool and aging backwards. Biden needs to somehow do something like that. I saw that movie as a child and I remember being afraid my grandparents might do something like that and l was worried my grandparents might get on a spaceship.
And what is really crazy is that Wilford Brimley starred in that movie when he was only 50.

I was as torn as many people, but from a nonpartisan viewpoint, I had worries that a re-elected Joe Biden’s second term might end as tragically as the second terms of Woodrow Wilson and Ronald Reagan, whose incapacities were hidden by wives (Edith Bolling Wilson and Nancy Reagan) and staff.
I have few doubts that he can complete this term competently.
And one can understand Biden’s resentment of party élites pressing him to leave, since they’d persuaded him to move out in favour of Hillary Clinton in 2016. And we know how that ended. Perhaps had he stayed in that race, we might not have had a President Trump.
