There is an interesting piece in the NYT today by Aaron Sorkin,the writer of the legendary tv series “ The West Wing.”
Sorkin advocates a revolutionary step by the Democratic Party if Biden withdraws.
Nominate a Republican,specifically Mitt Romney.
Sorkin concedes that Romney does not support traditional Democratic priorities but claims ,with some justification ,that if Trump is really the threat to democracy that many claim to believe ,then radical action is called for.He further would have Romney announce prior to the election a bipartisan Cabinet and impliedly a well known Democrat as the VP candidate.
He reasons that with the usual Democratic vote and what’s left of the old line “never Trumper “ Republicans that Romney would be elected.
All of this is a fantasy of course; however, if we all really believe that Trump is an existential threat to our democracy?Then maybe some type of radicalism is called for?

Unbelievably,ABC News says that Trumps favorability rating is now around 8 points greater than Biden.
And the Detroit Free Press is reporting that in Michigan ,Trump now has a 7 point lead .( the cheerleader is obsessed with national polls,all within the MOE and presently grossly irrelevant to anything much now as Biden is trailing in some cases as above by margins well outside the MOE in pivotal battleground states,while 270 to win, an often quoted source here ,has Trump over 300 evs).
Maybe the old Joe Biden could stage a comeback.We are not dealing with that person now.We are dealing with a rapidly aging old man who it becomes more obvious by the day has lost the confidence of the majority of Democratic voters as well as the vast majority of Americans.
