The ‘I’m crackhead, I don’t know ‘ defense did NOT work. even in friendly Delaware….
(Jury trials for gun possession are remote occurrences …This one was political…But fair)
President Biden says he won’t pardon his son…..
We’ll see what the judge gives him on sentencing….
One would think he won’t get any serious jail time, if any….
A jury in Wilmington, Del., on Tuesday found Hunter Biden, President Biden’s long-troubled son, guilty of three felony counts of lying on a federal firearms application in 2018, a grievous personal blow to the Biden family as his father enters the final months of a brutal re-election campaign.
The verdict brought an end to an extraordinary trial that made painfully public Mr. Biden’s crack addiction, reckless behavior and ruinous spending — narrated by three former romantic partners, including the widow of his brother, Beau Biden.
Here’s what else to know:
-
No pardons are coming. President Biden has said he will not pardon his son. The president kept his distance from the trial and was out of office on Oct. 12, 2018, when Hunter Biden asserted he was drug-free on a background check at a time when he was addicted to crack cocaine.
-
His legal troubles are not over. The Delaware case, brought by the special counsel David C. Weiss, is widely regarded as the least serious of the two federal indictments against Hunter Biden brought last year. He still faces serious tax charges in Los Angeles stemming from his failure to pay the government during a yearslong crack, alcohol and spending binge; the trial is scheduled to start in September….
Update…
“The jury in the Hunter Biden gun case was deadlocked in an initial vote Monday night over whether to convict the president’s son, adding that ‘no politics came into play’ during deliberations before they arrived at a guilty verdict,” CNN reports.
“The male juror, No. 10, also said that it was a mistake to put Naomi Biden, Hunter’s daughter, on the stand, and that jurors felt bad that she was called to testify.”

1 for 2 CG……
Lets see what the sentence is……
CG says
Congrats to the DOJ for not being intimidated by politics.
jamesb says
The DOJ won’t be with Trump EITHER….
CG says
Since politics is inevitable though during a campaign season, this verdict definitely takes away a huge narrative from Trump and his enablers. That is good news for Democrats. This is obviously an extremely bad day for Joe Biden personally.
Hopefully, Democrats will be consistent and retain the respect for the criminal justice system and the jury process that they have recently expressed regarding another case.
jamesb says
In fact on the cable news channels they ARE pointing to Biden getting support back in the 2020 debates when Hunter’s issues were brought up back then….
I mentioned this yesterday….
Drug addition IS a BIG problem around America…
Joe Biden’s worry and support FOR his son will blunt much from Any Republican going there….
against Joe
CG says
Since politics is inevitable in an election year, this verdict obviously takes away a huge narrative for Trump and his enablers. That is good for Democrats. On the personal front, this is obviously a bad day for Joe Biden, but something that many other non-prominent families have similarly had to go through.
Hopefully, Democrats will be consistent in retaining their support for the criminal justice system and the jury process, as they have been recently expressing.
CG says
At this point, it would seem to be a good deal for Hunter and his legal team to try to work out a plea deal on the federal tax charges.
jamesb says
He, he, he…..
CG????
Give us a BREAK….
Work out a plea deal???
U OK?
The RightWingNuts ARE gonna be ALL over getting a second chance up at bat to try and kneecap NOT Hunter but PRESIDENT Biden……
Again?
Hunter paid the amount due and the fine ALREADY
CG says
Yes, he should work out a plea deal. He is a convicted felon who has now already lost to the Feds. If he goes to trial and is convicted of the other charges, (besides for being a distraction before the election), it would increase the possibility that he would serve time or more time.
He should have accepted whatever deal he could have gotten previously instead of trying to fight on a case where he had little chance to win based on the facts. That turned out to be a bad idea legally.
jamesb says
So you would offer him a tax plea deal NOT jail time, eh?
What he actually had on the FIRST Go around?
REALLY?
CG says
It’s not up to me. I’m not a judge and wouldn’t claim to be. They have a lot of things to consider.
Perhaps he winds up serving something like 3 -6 months in a minimum security. He would still have Secret Service there, at least as long as his father is President.
If they try to drag it out and Trump winds up being President, Hunter is in a far worse situation.
jamesb says
Both cases should be done by Jan 20, 2025….
jamesb says
The Special Counsel is going to do a presser?
Huh?
CG says
Alvin Bragg did not?
CG says
I do not know of a high profile case where the prosecutor does not speak publicly afterwards.
That’s their job.
jamesb says
Weiss still has the Tax case going and did NOT say anything to screw himself in that one….
jamesb says
Ok Weiss just made a statement…..
PERIOD…..
So did Bragg…..
BOTH comments said the ‘System’ DID its job…….
The same system Donald J. Trump that did it’s job against the ex-President who is STILL Whining and Crying about…..
CG says
good idea*
CG says
President Biden issues a statement expressing respect for the verdict. (Definitely a difference from Trump there.) He expressed his support for his son personally and made note of a possible appeal on the case.
He has not pardoned his son, which might come as a disappointment to james and also to the assorted Steve Bannons of the world, who would love nothing more than to see Joe Biden be dumb enough to pardon his son.
jamesb says
He, he, he…..
Of course he did NOT pardon his son who has NOT been sentenced YET…..
Appeal this case?
WTF FOR?
A crackhead with guns does NOT need to be dragged thru a Appeal…..
Judge could very well give Hunter community service…..
Why would he need to be pardoned?
jamesb says
Ah CG?
Ex-President Donald Trump is losing his gun license and is probably losing any liquor license in his name in New York State also….
CG says
I don’t know what that has to do with Hunter Biden. Felons are felons. There are many of them and now two of them are named Trump and Biden.
In regards to Hunter, while I believe it is appropriate for his parents to be involved in his life, now that he is a convicted federal felon, perhaps it would be best if he is not visiting them at the White House.
CG says
You seem to be confusing pardon with commutation.
So, no pardon unless he is sentenced to prison? A commutation, which would keep him out of prison is a different matter, but he would still be a convicted felon. Is that what you are suggesting? Or you want a full pardon?
One way or another, it would be extremely bad politically and ethically for Biden to involve himself in his son’s case for either action
jamesb says
‘Felons are felons’…..
YUP!
Even ex-President’s….
CG says
The people counting on an appeal are the NRA and all the Second Amendment people. They are hoping Hunter takes it all the way up to the Supreme Court.
There is a lot of irony here for a pro gun control President who has an event on the topic planned for today
jamesb says
Ain’t THAT interesting?
NRA, eh?
jamesb says
How Hunter Biden’s Conviction Actually Helps His Father
It’s about the last thing President Biden wants to hear right now, but Hunter Biden’s conviction is actually politically beneficial to him.
That’s an odd thing to say about the first criminal conviction of a sitting president’s child.
I HAVE made the above political point here…..
jamesb says
Interesting….
No comment from Jack?
My Name Is Jack says
Surprised?
No. The Feds usually don’t go to trial unless it’s a slam dunk.
jamesb says
Their conviction rate is above 95% i believe…
Vast majority pleaded out…:
CG says
Tough day for Abbe Lowell. He probably thought he could win this thing.
Scott P says
31 more convictions and Republicans would consider Hunter Biden presidential material!
jamesb says
He, he, he
He’s only in his 50’s
But of course that doesn’t apply to Democrats
CG says
On the one Trump apologist comment section I check out (the ghost of HHR), there is radio silence about the Hunter Biden guilty verdict. Just nothing at all. Had it gone the other way, there would be dozens of posts about how the “fix was in” and America is now a third world dictatorship, etc, etc.
In other words, they are very disappointed in the guilty verdict. This particular avenue for rage has been cut off.
jamesb says
Post coming on that here later CG……
I’m not surprised on more than one level
jamesb says
CG?
I’m watching MSNBC and our conversation from yesterday IS being repeated about Pres Biden and pardon or commutation ….
The wait for the sentence….

Biden Says He Won’t Pardon or Commute Son’s Sentence
“President Biden emphatically defended his son at a summit of world leaders here, commenting directly for the first time since Hunter Biden was convicted this week on federal gun charges, while also reiterating that he would not use his presidential powers to soften whatever penalty his son faces,” the Washington Post reports.
Said Biden: “I’m extremely proud of my son, Hunter. He has overcome an addiction. He’s one of the brightest, most decent men I know.”
“The president reiterated that he would not pardon his son, saying he trusted the deliberations of a jury that found Hunter Biden guilty of lying on a gun-purchase form in 2018 when he checked a box saying he was not using illegal drugs.”
“As Biden was walking away from the stage, he was also asked whether he would commute his son’s sentence — that is, reduce its severity. ‘No,’ Biden responded.”
