Those who think Joe Biden is Too old I think should check out Donald Trump’s appearance before those who are kissing his ass for their well being….
It IS revealing how random, unconnected and sexually driven the guy is….
He related about possibly being ‘WITH’ Nancy Pelosi?…..
Donald Trump came to the Capitol Hill Club Thursday morning supposedly to discuss his agenda for a second term with House Republicans. Instead, Trump treated his meeting as an opportunity to deliver a behind-closed-doors, stream-of-consciousness rant where Trump tried to settle scores in the House GOP, trashed the city of Milwaukee and took a shot at Nancy Pelosi’s “wacko” daughter.
As one source in the room put it, Trump was “rambling.”
“Like talking to your drunk uncle at the family reunion,” this source said….
…
On the other end of the spectrum, Trump dumped on a number of his enemies, railing against the Department of Justice — he called the DOJ “dirty bastards” — and criticized Democrats and President Joe Biden.
Lawmakers told NOTUS that Trump blasted Biden for canceling a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline on the first day of his presidency. Trump also advised Republicans to hit Biden and Democrats on inflation and the border. And he called Biden’s push to expand electric vehicle use “the dumbest thing,” according to another source in the room.
He also brought up Taylor Swift, asking the room why the pop singer would “endorse this dope,” referring to Biden, according to a member in the room….
…
But Trump also hit a number of weirder topics that were completely unrelated to policy. At one point, he joked that the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter was a “nice guy,” according to one of the sources in the room. “He even had a friend over for dinner,” Trump said, according to that source, in a joke about cannibalism….
…
But perhaps the most bizarre moment of all was Trump’s rant about one of Pelosi’s daughters. Trump told House Republicans that she once told him, “If things were different, Nancy and I would be perfect together.”
“There’s an age difference though,” said Trump, who is about six years younger than Pelosi and 24 years older than his wife, Melania.
Pelosi’s daughter Christine almost immediately refuted Trump’s claim on X. Speaking for all four Pelosi daughters, she denied Trump’s claim and condemned the former president as “unwell, unhinged and unfit to step foot anywhere near her — or the White House.”
Toward the end of his roughly one-hour speech, Trump proved the sheer randomness of his affections.
For instance, Milwaukee, the host city for the Republican National Convention next month, is apparently on Trump’s bad side. Trump called Milwaukee “a horrible city,” according to Punchbowl…..

Yes Trump is essentially incoherent.
However,Republicans don’t care.
I mean they’ve overlooked the fact that he is a rapist,a pathological liar,a cheat ,a thief, and ,in general, makes a mockery of everything they claim to believe in.
Hate though is a powerful motivator and more than anything Trump knows how to appeal to it.
As long as he gets them “ libruls” ,that term applying to anyone they don’t like or agree with?
They will support him .
Incoherence and all.

— Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), quoted by the Washington Post, on Donald Trump.
Scott P says
He called Milwaukee–host to next month’s RNC–a “horrible city”.
That’s pretty much the Republican view on all cities and why almost all large cities have Democratic or Democratic leaning independent mayors.
In the 90s 2 of the 3 most populous US cities had GOP mayors (NYC and LA).
Now the only city in the top 10 most populous with a Republican mayor (Dallas) was elected as a Democrat but changed parties.

Clean Up on Aisle Trump
Punchbowl News: “Trump disparaged Milwaukee, the city where he’ll formally accept the GOP presidential nomination next month. He also told a bizarre story involving an imagined relationship with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. And he suggested a new tariff idea.”
“It was vintage Trump, treating the gathering like a campaign rally. The following few hours were dominated by GOP lawmakers and Trump campaign officials haranguing reporters for the portrayal of his comments about Milwaukee.”
“Trump called Milwaukee a ‘horrible city,’ then some House Republicans claimed he never said it, and then they admitted he said it but that he didn’t mean it.”

If Trump thought Milwaukee was such a “ horrible “ city then the question arises, why did he let his stooges on the Republican National Committee choose it as the site of their convention?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Kellyanne Conway’s genius in 2016 was recognizing Hillary’s weakness (while Hillary was politically asleep) in the Rust Bowl states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
So it made sense for the GOP to hold its convention in one of those states.
Bashing Milwaukee only makes sense if Trump believes that doing so will lose fewer November 2024 votes in Milwaukee than anti-Milwaukee votes in the red suburbs, rural areas and declining non-metropolitan towns such as (I’m going out on a limb here and welcome correction) Racine, Sheboygan and Green Bay.
Wisconsin has always been very narrowly divided between the heirs of Bob La Follette (or the Milwaukee Socialists) and those of Joe McCarthy. Michael Rogin and others have written whole books about this split.

From what I see online from Meghan McCain is that she thinks Trump is going to win the election. She keeps talking about Biden being senile.

Meghan McCain posted yesterday that since the highly respected Selzer Iowa poll out yesterday shows Trump ahead by 18 points in Iowa, that she cannot see how Biden wins next door Wisconsin.
I can see how it could be possible, but you have misrepresented her.

For the record, Meghan McCain thinks Trump is going to win Wisconsin. I do not know if that means she wants it to happen or not. Like me, I think she detests Trump (and Kari Lake), but she is extremely anti-Biden and for some odd reason is a fan of Tulsi Gabbard,
There is no way her Tweet could have been read as an indication that she thinks Biden is going to win Wisconsin.
Only you seem to think that Biden already “has” America’s Dairyland.

Far from certain, but we should all be able to agree that Iowa will not. It has become very, very Red.
The logic of thinking that since Iowa is so red, Wisconsin is bound to go along with it also ignores the fact that very blue Illinois is also next door to Wisconsin, as is Minnesota, which right now, looks like a swing state.

Milwaukee elected a Socialist Congressman in the 1910’s & ’20s (Victor Berger, expelled from Congress for anti-war activity and then re-elected) and a couple of Socialist Mayors up until Frank Zeidler’s defeat in 1960.
Of course being a Red City meant something a little different then. Eugene Debs’ campaign train was called the Red Special.
CG says
Current day Chicago has at least one socialist affiliated U.S. House Member and a Mayor who could probably be considered one. Several members of the Chicago City Council, who are allies of the Mayor, are openly socialist.
If Trump would rather crash in Chicago instead of Milwaukee, it might have something to do with the fact that he owns a hotel in Chicago.

Interesting Jack, when I saw James’ comment about being wrong it made me smile. He went on for weeks about Hillary when we all knew Obama was going to be the nominee.

RFK Jr. Raised Just $2.6 Million Last Month
“Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign raised just $2.6 million in May, a paltry sum that speaks to how reliant his bid has become on his running mate, the wealthy Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan,” the New York Times reports.
“The Kennedy campaign raised less in May than it had in any previous month in 2024, according to filings on Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission. That was in large part because Ms. Shanahan, who has poured millions into their independent presidential campaign, barely contributed any additional money in May.”

Years ago, I had a colloquy with CG about the supposed secular neutrality or universality of the Ten Commandments.
And half of them would make no sense to a non-believer (e.g. honouring no other gods before Him, keeping the Sabbath, no blasphemy, no idols).
So adopting them (or forcing them on public-institution students) is basically an establishment of religion (prohibited by the very first and second injunctiosn of the Bill of Rights — Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion — or prohibiting the free exercise thereof):
Exodus Chapter 20
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

https://web.archive.org/web/20081105112705/http://www.haloscan.com/comments/politics1/121907a/
This was a story that broke on the National Enquirer, and of course wound up to be completely true. Edwards was later charged for campaign finance violations very similar to what Trump was convicted on in New York. He was found Not Guilty on one charge and there was a mistrial on the others, which led many to believe that Trump could beat the NY charges also. So, Edwards never became a convicted felon, but rightfully left public life, and is considered a laughingstock. It is a shame that Elizabeth Edwards had to suffer the way she did, due in large part to this mess, during her final years.

You should read up a bit more on Bowman. He has called for one state and it does not include Israel. He dismissed claims of rape occurring on October 7. He is widely viewed as an anti-Semitic extremist and this is not even taking into account his issues with Capitol Hill fire alarms.
Even J Street, the very left-wing organization in regards to Israel and the Middle East, that DSD has talked about often, rescinded their support for Bowman and said they could no longer support him.
Yesterday, Bowman on on an unhinged, profane tirade at a public campaign rally on his behalf. It was like something out of a Trump rally, but worse.
You should listen to Hillary Clinton, your 2008 candidate, who has endorsed Bowman’s opponent. All sensible Democrats should be hoping for a George Latimer primary victory tomorrow.

There are also going to be some interesting Republican primaries in Utah tomorrow. The Trump acolyte running against the incumbent Governor is expected to lose handily. In the Senate contest to replace Mitt Romney, Trump has endorsed a MAGA candidate who might lose.
(This would be a few weeks after Trump’s endorsed U.S. Senate candidate lost a primary in New Jersey. The candidate who won is a moderate, gay, Republican who was not a fan of Trump. He now goes up against the official Democrat nominee and incumbent Bob Menendez, (whom james thinks should be reelected) who is running as an Independent. I would still expect the Democrat Andy Kim to win.)
Back to Utah, there is an open Congressional seat, where one of the Republican candidates is running on a slogan of “Mainstream, Not MAGA.” Ironically enough though, one of his opponent’s is Mitt Romney’s nephew, whom Romney has issued an extremely rare endorsement of, and is promoting the endorsement of his uncle/U.S. Senator.

Supreme’s call on immunity…….
jamesb says
I think he loses the debate and only gets partial immunity….

Browsing through the P1 threads from January 2008 is a trip. These days you just do not see any sort of blog where large groups political people in both parties converse/argue/insult each directly.
Anyways, people on the left there (including some of the people who will probably read this) had as much vitriol for Mitt Romney then they do for Donald Trump now. One of our southern friends called him “the most ruthless bastard ever to run.” Would they have any idea what was coming? Generally speaking, this is a big part of the reason why the warnings and attacks about Trump have fallen too flat for years now. That is a bad thing.
Sixteen years later, at least honest Democrats would have to admit that Mitt Romney was not evil personified. I also had a lot of back and forth then with a Giuliani supporter over the nomination battle. No doubt that I have a clear conscience on that one.

Did Jamaal Bowman go around to various polling stations in his district today to pull the fire alarms?
CG says
Lauren Boebert wins her primary tonight.Too bad. Not a surprise though.
Big opportunity in New York tonight for Democrats to look smarter than Republicans and oust one if their crazies.
CG says
Indeed.. right now….it is looking like Bowman has gone down to defeat….
Stay tuned. Once it becomes more official, I have a Bowmanesque “victory statement” to make.
Even if not one person out there out of the scores and scores that james tells us visits this site daily, is willing (thus far) to chime in perhaps agree with me on Latimer vs. Bowman.. I might be asking a lot.
CG says
Please james.. please.. put up a new open thread, or a thread dedicated specifically to the New York Primary so I can make my “victory speech.” and it will not be buried here…
I promise to not redact parts of the profanity.
jamesb says
New thread coming shortly…..
Good Morning All
CG says
I am definitely under censorship here now. It will not let me post. Somehow, the Texan has to be blamed.
Bowman has lost and I have a statement to make, but I will wait eagerly for a new thread.
jamesb says
And ?
YOU ARE NOT being censored…..
Certain words ARE in the filter……
And yes a certain person HIS THE reason for some of the filtering….
DAMN REAL…..

Any relation to Margaret Hoover, heiress to “Firing Line” ?

[I’m following this sub-thread to avoid all the contention below about process.]
More good news: Spencer Cox, the rather conservative but sane and approachable Republican governor of Utah (think Orrin Hatch
) has beaten back a Trumpist challenger in the GOP primary.
I think that a couple of other Utah crazies lost last night, too.

What are these “words” that are being used in posts that are causing posts to not get through? Can you tell us here? Either use your moderator authority to post them or find some other way to communicate it? Can you email me a list? So I can know what words to avoid or ways to get around those words?
DSD says it happens to him too. I think only Scott P. never falls into the filter because he knows to have some typings/misspellings in his posts with some four letter words thrown in and the filter thinks it is you and allows it!
jamesb says
Yea I CAN list them so they can walked around CG?
NOT gonna happen…..
It’s NOT anyone here….
We row together. …
CG says
There is no rhyme or reason to what words are causing a problem with the filter. Almost none of my attempts to post work, unless they are just a sentence or two. I am not using profanity in my posts, although that does not seem to be anything that is filtered anyway.
Email me the list and I will keep it secret. Maybe others you trust can ask you to do the same, but it is entirely a waste of time to offer substantive and sometimes detailed commentary and for them not to not be posted without any sort of explanation.
