For the last 8 years I’ve said is the end result of the Rush Limbaugh-ification of the Republican Party.
Pat Buchanan tried to pull off what Trump did. The party wasn’t ready to completely let it’s freaking flag fly yet.
Another couple decades of that hateful bigot Limbaugh and those who wanted to follow in his footsteps and the perfect vessel arrived.
Someone like Limbaugh who didn’t really give a shit about Republican or conservative “principles” in his personal life but has no qualms about forcing them on everyone else.

The point of the above was that Trump is the personification of today’s Republican Party and has simply completed the logical fulfillment of Pat Buchanan and Rush Limbaughs contortion of so called “ conservatism.”
You ,on the other hand ,continue to insist that he isn’t a Republican,a totally absurd position given the fact that his support among those who call themselves Republicans is overwhelming.
Instead you blabber on and on ad nauseum about the so called “ moderates” ( who aren’t really moderate at all but are just what used to be deemed “ conservative “ and can’t stomach the Rapist)who constitute a rather small and decreasing presence in the party and exercise no influence whatsoever and whose apparent titular “ leader,”Nikki Haley, is now supporting the Rapist.
Once again you just continuously make up something ,repeat it over and over and then it becomes your reality.

His disregard for the military is certainly NOT Republican

Back in 2016, Steve Bannon said out loud what I’d also thought at the time, that Donald Trump and his brand (Bannon, Stephen Miller, et al.) had executed a successful hostile takeover of the once-Grand Old Party.
The last eight years are just completing the process.
Unlike Jack, I hope that a sufficiently-sharp defeat might make room for a more-traditional, responsible Republican Party, but I don’t inflate my hopes. The crushing 40-60% record defeat of Barry Goldwater [nominated by a mob of duly-elected John Birchers and segregationists who shoved aside and shouted down Rockefeller, Romney, Scranton et al.] led to the victory of Richard Nixon four years later and that of Ronald Reagan in 1980.
¶ Those who have the patience might study how Hitler and the Nazis took over the entire space of traditional monarchists, conservatives, nationalists, ultramontane Catholics and capitalists, crowding out everyone else, in the early 1930’s.
My sentiments also DSD……
