Ok?
THIS Dog IS of the opinion that Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs under the direction of coach Andy Reid WILL win the game giving Mahomes another Super Bowl win….
The 49er’s had a better season….
But the Chief’s a better playoff run….
For the serious fans….

49ERS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Brock Purdy. The third-youngest quarterback ever to start a Super Bowl, the 24-year-old Purdy can cap a remarkable rise from final pick of the 2022 draft to champion in less than two years. Purdy struggled in the rain in the divisional round against Green Bay and for the first half in the conference championship game against Detroit, but he has led back-to-back comeback wins. He has thrown for 519 yards and two TDs with one INT this postseason.
CHIEFS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Patrick Mahomes. He can further cement his legacy as one of the greatest players in NFL history with his third Lombardi in his first six seasons as a starter, and perhaps even capture a third Super Bowl MVP to go with it. Mahomes sacrificed stats for wins most of the season, relying on the league’s No. 2-ranked defense while the Kansas City offense was scuffling. But he’s been excellent in the playoffs, throwing for 528 yards and five TDs with no interceptions….

Quote of the Day
“Just like we drew it up.”
— President Biden, mocking the GOP conspiracy theories that he had rigged the Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Scott P says
I was rooting for KC anyway but the added benefit of crybaby Republicans melting down made the Chiefs win sweeter.
CG says
“There’s a still a chance the 49ers can win the Super Bowl if Mike Pence has the courage to do the right thing.”
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Aren’t all the points scored after the 59th minute of regular play fake, phoney, rigged and stolen ?
(asks a proud former resident of the Bay Area — Remember Joe Montana! — and Miss Universe’s ]TM Trump Org.] fellow Rhode Islander. All I’m asking the officials to do is find four extra points.)
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Perhaps the First Couple of Super Bowl LVIII could open a ticket booth in Manhattan and call it TKTS.
Scott P says
Then there’s the right wing meltdown over the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” a song sometimes referred to as the “black national anthem” being performed prior to the National Anthem.
Of course other uplifting songs like “America the Beautiful” were played prior to the official anthem without snowflakes Megyn Kelly and Matt Gaetz fainting into their couches.
CG says
I can confirm “Lift Every Voice and Sing” is a major trigger for some folks on the right. I had gone back and forth with them online over this when the NFL started using it at every game. It is not that the song replaces “The Star Spangled Banner” or is even presented as a counterbalance to it. Some claim they have boycotted the NFL over this since.
It is a Christian hymn with a longstanding tradition in the United States. The only people it should offend are atheists. It used to be performed at Republican National Conventions that nominated Ronald Reagan.
Keith says
That was almost 40 years ago Corey. That Republican Party you speak of will now sing Dixie at its next convention.
You know, those people you’ve made excuses for a decade.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
It’s hard to see what’s in the least unpatriotic about these lyrics, written in 1900 by the prominent Negro (as he would call himself) poet, James Weldon Johnson.

And you have to be (as some MAGA’s still are) drunk with and cemented into the Lost Cause myth to deny:
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Scott P says
Dixie performed by Kid Rock. Maybe a song about immigrants “poisoning the blood”. The RNC might have to get a German song from 1933 for that.
But no worries. They’ll find a Rubio or some other sell out to assure it’s nothing to be concerned about.
Seig heil on!
CG says
Elvis performed Dixie until the end and America still loves Elvis.
Maybe there will be a new American Trilogy of Dixie, Edwin Starr’s War (What Is It Good For), and Laura Branigan’s Gloria. Trump will stand on stage and do his favorite dance move where he pretends to *#%# off two guys at once. (Scott will approve of this reference I am sure)
Democratic Socialist Dave says
“My Old Kentucky Home” used to be sung at the Race for the Roses in Louisville, until the meaning of the words became clearer (e.g. “The young folks roll on the little cabin floor
All merry, all happy and bright;”), so now the Derby just plays the melody.
