For the Republican 2024 Presidential nomination it’s down to Haley, DeSantis and the ‘Donald’…..
It’s a race for second place now….
Vivek Ramaswamy announced Monday night he’s dropping out of the 2024 GOP presidential race and endorsing former President Trump following the long shot’s disappointing showing in the Iowa caucuses, the latest announcement to winnow down the primary field Trump dominates.
“As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign,” Ramaswamy told supporters in Iowa on Monday night….
…
Former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R), who entered the presidential race as an outspoken critic of Donald Trump but never gained traction, suspended his bid for the Republican nomination on Tuesday, the New York Times reports.

Today, the DNC decided to take potshots at Asa Hutchinson as he exited the Presidential race.
Hutchinson was the only remaining Republican candidate who has said Trump is unfit for office and he could not ever support him. He is the kind of Republican that Democrats *claim* they would respect for his views on democracy and the rule of law in the Age of Trump.
Why in the world would the DNC feel the need to go out of its way to attack Asa Hutchinson today? How much free time do they have? If they were actually smart at politics, you think that maybe they would have put out a statement praising Asa Hutchinson for being a rare voice of sanity among Republicans. Maybe they should have been reaching out to him privately to see if there would be any possibility, however slight, that he might even endorse Joe Biden one day this year.
But no, they attack him instead because to the Democrat political class, there is no difference between a MAGA Republican and an anti-Trump Republican. That is why they have continued to prop up MAGA by siding with them in Republican primaries over anti-Trump Republicans.

What the DNC said:
In response to Asa Hutchinson suspending his 2024 GOP primary campaign, DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement:
“This news comes as a shock to those of us who could’ve sworn he had already dropped out.”

Thanks DSD….
jamesb says
Yo CG?
Didn’t Chris Christie campaign for MONTHS with the same warning?
CG says
Yes, and I see now that the same DNC Press Secretary attacked him on the day he dropped out too.
Horrible politics for the DNC. Clearly, they feel the party has more than enough voters to spare that they amuse themselves by snarky attacks at any Republican. Maybe they will continue to follow Donald Trump’s lead in pettiness and say something nasty about John McCain next.
jamesb says
Why Asa?
He’s not a ‘A’ player?
CG says
The White House Chief of Staff called Governor Hutchinson to apologize to him today on behalf of the President.
Hopefully, the DNC gets the message. Their Chairman Jamie Harrison doubled down on attacking Hutchinson yesterday online after many Democrats expressed disapproval of that and the Press Secretary re-Tweeted the criticism, to signal she was proud of her statement. These DNC statements about Hutchinson are still online.
jamesb says
CG?
Again?
Asa is NOT really a big deal in the sceme of things….
Bit i’m sure he appreciated the call…..
CG says
Clearly you do not understand the big picture.
For one thing, these sort of statements by Democrats are something like what Donald Trump would do. They are petty and unnecessary
More importantly…
Nah, whatever I say, you won’t get it and will just argue back like a petulant child..
jamesb says
CG?
I DO get ‘It’…….
Republicans in the Trump era as U say do these attacks as a normality….
U are annoyed because the Democrats are NOT supposed to do the same…….
They’re supposed to be above the mud slinging
CG says
They should not treat anti-Trump Republicans in the same disdainful way they treat MAGA Republicans. There should recognize there is a difference. Otherwise, Republicans will be less likely to see the point of opposing Trump.
This is assuming Democrats are actually serious about wanting there to be anti-Trump Republicans speaking out for the good of the country.
jamesb says
Democrats have no problem with Anti-Trumpism
The White House has knocked the Asa dig
jamesb says
Gov. Asa Hutchinson
@AsaHutchinson
The call from the White House was not necessary but still appreciated. We can disagree without demonizing. The bipartisan push back will hopefully lead to more focus on issues that are important to Americans.
