Israel said it carried out strikes on southern Lebanon early Saturday after the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets across the border in what the group described as an “initial response” to the suspected Israeli killing of a senior Hamas leader in Beirut on Tuesday.
