“The House passed a stopgap funding bill, the first step in averting a shutdown this weekend,” Punchbowl News reports.
The legislation sets up two funding deadlines: Jan. 19 and Feb. 2.

The House approves Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan to keep parts of the federal government open til mid-January and others til Feb. 2. The plan includes no spending cuts so Dems backed it in droves. Final vote: 336 to 95.
209 Ds voted for the bill, while only 127 Rs backed it.
